Hey Yall!!!
This is my first time on here. This KJ i have was forced on me and i wanted to make it more my style and not how the piece of skin my kids call mom has it. im ditching the bling wheels and try to make it LOOK like a real jeep. This KJ is 2wd drive, and the offroading i do in this jeep is never to low. I wanted to lift the KJ from 2.5" to 3.5", some 31" tires, pretty much just for looks. I was looking online for some lifts and came across a few as you guys know there is not to many out there for the KJ. before I began to write this i read some threads and saw that the HD Old Man Emu lift is the most popular. I wanted to see if in my case i can get the benefits of the lifts i was looking at to get the best one for my situation. I dont mean to be a P.I.T.A., but i just want to be educated since this is my first jeep i would be lifting.. here are some lifts i was considering..thanks in advance..

would not even think about doing any spacer lifts, original shocks and springs start to sag about 30,000/35,000 so need new springs and shocks.
Rustys are the same spring rate as stock and I assume you want to upgrade not stay the same.
Rocky Road has poor customer service and well they do use OME springs but.............
Skyjacker is the same way, same spring rate as stock anymore

First, welcome to the forum! Where in TX are you? I have a 2WD 07 model too. I initially put on the Daystar Spacer Lift. It worked fine for me. But depending on how many miles you have, I would suggest spring replacement. And absolutely replace the shocks too. Huge ride improvement. See this thread for my explanation of why: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=46838

So, look for Rancho or OME shocks on all four corners. Then go for OME springs. Some have tried the BDS lift and have not heard anything bad on them yet.

Howdy - Welcome to KJ Country

beware to the Rusty's and Rocky road versions that are basically spacer on top of the front strut - those have been known to kill the strut in as little as 1 weekend - it causes the strut to bottom out on the strut internals. Extended bumpstops help.
The systems based on OME springs will give you a better ride in addition to a lift.
(I started with Daystar and then changed to OME - much better)

I've got 60K miles on the Rusty's spring/shock lift. Say what you will about the Rusty's lift, and most do, but I did manage to get 60K miles out of the kit. Now that I've got the ARB and a winch I'm saving my pennies to replace the clapped out Rusty's gear. It'll be OME/Frankenlift all the way.

People run their stock suspensions for a 100,000 miles as well and don't notice a difference until they replace it. For the money why waste it on a Rustys or any of the others when for a few bucks more you can have the best.
My initial investment for the OME / Rancho's in early 05 was under 500 and 100,000 miles later I am still running them and am as high or higher than a Frankenlift great investment in my book. Oh and thats with the ARB up there the whole time as well! ;):D

Tommudd, when I did my lift in way early '06, I was unaware that there were so many options available. What are you running for a lift. PM me with the details. I need to educate myself a lot more on what is available. I've already decided on the OME springs/shocks but I'd like to maintain the 3 ish inches of lift that I've got. With the ARB/winch and fatty rubber I need the clearance.

I sent you a short "sermon" on OME lifts and what we did today to another KJ, mixing gasser Frankenlift parts, OME CRD 790 springs and a clevis lift!

After your eyes glaze over ....well hope it makes some sense:D

TX bred KJ, I don't know if you have a little lady sitting shotgun but I got the AOK from mine as far as the ride and stability goes. Old Man Emu medium springs with Rancho shocks. Speed bumps and such are much friendlier than with the stock suspension. I'm very happy!
