Hi! I have a 2006 KJ and my mechanic happened to notice a rattle. He is a very good friend and very knowledgeable mechanic and said that this is a pretty common problem with the KJs. I trust him completely. He's done some incredible fixes on my previous cars. He doesn't mind using aftermarket products on vehicles but there are times when he feels they are substandard. I need to order the tensioners and he wants the OEM parts for this. Does anyone have preference to OEM over aftermarket on these parts? There are other parts I also have to order and again, he wants OEM for this particular job. Thoughts or apprehensions???

I prefer to use known items when you (he) has to go this far into the engine.

For just tensioners, I would follow his recommendations. Remember, he is the one who will stand behind this work.

Personally, I have used Cloyes (specialize in engine timing sets) or Melling for other engine items, like the valve lash adjusters (lifters) that I replaced in my 06.
