Here's the deal - 30k on my Grabber AT2's. Rotated every 5k. Wearing very well, no uneven spots.

At 35-45 mph and 70-80 mph (basically the two speeds I spend 90% of the time driving) the hum is getting unbearable. They are getting really loud and they drone nonstop. If I push it up to 80, they quiet down to how they used to sound. I am not joking, they sound like M/T's. I can't even talk on the phone that well (and not on speakerphone), people on the phone can hear them!

Never dealt with this. Is there any type of noise warranty on tires? Other than this noisy BS, I am happy with them. I drive 55 miles round trip to/from work and they are getting really annoying. It's bad enough with just me in the car, but I usually have the radio cranked and don't mind it too much - when my wife is in the passenger seat and I don't crank the tunes, it's enough to give you a headache or drive you insane.

Anyone else with AT2's have a similar issue?

Just trying to determine my options...

Just curious but you wouldn't happen to have flat spots would you? I know I had Four Brand New Firestone Destinations A/T's and I swerved to miss a family of deer in the road while hitting the brakes hard.. and boy I felt stupid.. I had four brand new tires all with flat spots luckily through my insurance my tires are covered..

I shouldn't - I've never locked up the tires (plus, I have ABS). The vehicle has never sat for more than 3-4 days without being driven.

I'm looking online, and nothing seems to show that other people have problems with them as far as noise in concerned. In fact, people rate them as low noise. They weren't bad at all when I got them, a little more than the SRA's.

Other than this issue, I love these things. Unfortunately, this is a big issue to me.

Hmm are you sure it's the tires? Not something else? Does it do it when you brake?

It's definitely the tires, no doubt about it. Not too loud until 35ish, loud until 40, quiet down a bit until 70, loud until 80. It goes with the speed of the vehicle regardless of braking, coasting, or accelerating. It's coming from all 4 corners.

Could misalignment cause this loud of issues? Nothing's really changed. I don't have pulling or drifting.

Lower-priced AT's are usually noisy. The ones currently on ThunderbirdJunkie's KJ are noisier than the MT/R's he took off.

There's not going to be any sort of warranty there...they've got 30k miles on them, and not to mention ITBJRC they do not carry a treadwear warranty.

Hate to say it...but you're up a creek with this issue. Replace 'em or live w/em.

But, you could always try contacting General/Continental about this issue. Worst they could say is no.

Misalignment, on the other hand, could cause wear that would cause this noise. But, on a KJ being that it's a solid rear axle, only the front tires would wear funny. However, it'd manifest itself at all four corners after a rotation.

Wouldn't I most likely see a decent amount of uneven wear before they got this loud?

Other than the noise, I have no issue with these. They are wearing great and have worked well enough on dry, ice, snow, and rain.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Most A/T's and M/T's get noticeably louder as they wear, totally normal.

My MT/R would howl very loudly at about 45mph on fresh asphalt, and I do mean very loud like a jet taking off.Man I love that sound:D.

Just wanted to update so I don't scare anyone off.

30k miles on my Grabbers. I was SURE it was tire noise...well, it wasn't!!!!

So, I bought new tires and kept the Grabbers. They will go back on once the new shoes wear out.

I liked the Grabbers and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. 30k on them and they should go another 20-30k. I did a 5 wheel rotation though, so that helps with wear too.
