05 Renegage - The dang thing keeps going off! I usually keep all 5 at the recommended psi....but after 5,000 miles, the warning light would only stay off if I pump all the tires up to 36-37 psi.

Now at 10,000 miles, I'm at 38psi and the warning keeps going off. Where are the sensors and how can I tell which one is bad?

Yikes. Well, I've popped two tires so far in the first 10,000 miles....and one of them was severe and by the time I pulled over safely, tire had come off and I had to drive a few feet on the rim (no visable damage to the rim). Could that have screwed one of the sensors up?

Or could improper mounting and balancing of a tire screw a sensor up?

The TPMS sensors are very sensitive and just overtorquing them can ruin them. They are mounted on the inside of the rim above the valve stem, so if a tire shreds off and you are not on even ground, yeah, you could screw it up.

As far as the dealer wanting 60 bucks, hasn't anyone on this site heard of makeitmopar.com?!?! Nobody ever talks about getting deals or knowing where to buy Mopar parts cheap. Every other Mopar forum I am on knows about these sites, though most have supporting vendor agreements that prevent us from talking about most of these sites in the forums.

Yes, not monuting a tire correctly could very easily destroy the sensor. I pop the beads on my tires and take the sensors out before taking them to get new tires mounted. Ive got a compressor at home that I put air in them with.

I couldnt find any sensors on that site the_titan. Ive got the part # also. O:)

If you have the part number, they are on there. period. Always use the part number search, not the catalogs. And since the part number you have is an OEM it will start with a 0, always remove the 0 from the start of a part number on their search function, too. Trust me, they have it. And every pressure sensor I have order from them in the past for other vehicles ran me about 35 each. Excellent site and customer service from them. Absolute tops.

The same issue just happened to me last night on New Years day. While I was driving on the highway my tire pressure inidicator turned on. I pulled over and checked my overhead console for my tire PSI and saw my front right tire did not display a reading while the other tires did. Before the light went on, I was driving in the rain with F/T 4x4, could the F/T 4x4 cause this? This is nothing to be worried about correct, I just need to bring my car to the dealer to have it fixed since it's under warranty?

There are two different systems depending on year. The old ones needed to be trained with a magnet and the newer ones don't. On my '06 one will radomly take a vacation but don't go to the dealer just be patient for a few hours or days and it will come back.

There is another important issue. All of the parts to this system are important to its proper operation including the dust cap and the core. Many tire shops don't understand this and when they pull them out they don't always put the original ones back in. Make sure you have the silver plastic dust cap. I don't know what the visual appearance on the core is to make it stand out.

Thanks Cowcatcher, I took my Jeep out today and this morning I had the sensor issue, however later in the day the Jeep detected the tire pressure and all seems to be fine.

What makes the silver plastic dust cap special? Where can I find additional dust caps for my tires? I rather not go through my dealer as I don't tend to trust them.

They have good seals in them. If any dirt or dust gets in the sensors, it would probably screw them up. :-s

I don't know what makes them special just that they are. Jeepster probably has it right.

You might try JParts but if you had tire work done at a regular tire shop and they put the wrong parts back in I would go back to them and have them fix it. I would have them check out the core too to make sure it is correct.
