The above is just the kind of discussion I'm looking for, keep it coming. I agree that budget should be a limiting factor, but in for a penny in for a pound. Why buy substandard, when you could get premium for a little extra (isn't that why we bought KJ's instaed of Hyundai's or Kia's?). That being said, no sense in waisting money either.
So if the grabbers are comperable to the bfg's, then to me they are more desireable.
I spoke with discount tire and they will match the tirerack price. So here are my options so far:
BFG A/T KO 235 70 16, 8 of them out the door = $1439.85
Revo's 235 70 16, 8 of them out the door = $1370.00
Grabber's 245 70 16, 10 of them out the door = $1187.00
Now, two questions.
1. What is the better deal, in your oppinion?
2. I think it will be ok, but will the 245's rub at all? Thier going on an '05 and a pre-lowered '02.
To be honest, I like the idea of getting 10 new tires for less than what 8 of the others go for.
As a side note, the guy at discount tires was very eager to match the tirerack price. He also mentioned that he test drove a set of the grabbers at a trade show, and he said he was very impressed. According to him in order for the tires to be displayed in the trade show, they had to prove they met a very high standard.
He made a point to mention that general is trying to rebuild the brand name, after a mangement shake up (because quality declined). He said that he wouldn't be surprised if the tires went from the current $78 a tire, up to around $130 a tire in the next 6 months.
