Trans fluid options?

I have an 06 KJ that just hit 75k, and am going to be taking it into the dealer to get the ****** serviced this week. I do not know the history if the ****** has ever been serviced before but I am going to assume it hasn't..
Should I just have them do a pan drop and filter?
Or do a flush? With/without the chemical additives?

Flush using ATF+4,pan drop and filter change,refill with ATF+4.

You can also have them check for any TCM /computer updates applicable for the 2006.
They normally program in "new transmission fluid".
Dealer will know to use ATF+4 and has the correct machine to do this work.

Yeah I was just going to get some Mopar ATF+4 and do a pan drop, but I feel safer just spending some cash and taking it into the dealership for the ****** and having the peace of mind for my DD.

Keep any eye on the RTV seal around the transmission pan for leaks after job completed, just in case.
If you get salt corrosion like me, give a quick clean up & spray the pan with rattle paint.

It would be nice to have a drain plug installed as well, for in between drain capability.
There also is a OEM skid plate available if you are off-roading. Part # 82210003 ($60)

If you got the 42rle a new trans pan is only like 10 bucks from the dealer. So you don’t have to bother about rust coming though the pan again if you did not get it all. The dealer actually had to call another dealer to see if the price was correct. He would not believe what the computer was telling him.

Thanks for the tip on the pan cover, I may go ahead and do that for $10 even though its only 5 years old, its been in the salt covered cleveland roads all its life, but thats if I only do the pan drop.
And I do already have full skids, just not installed yet...

I think I am going to chance it and get the flush. The dealership said if it doesn't have any problems it should be okay at 75K even without knowing if its ever been done. It doesn't slip or grind or do anything real unusual, just loves going in and out of overdrive around 40-45 which I think is kinda normal?

Then it is a simple matter of me draining from pan and re-fill with new fluid every 25k miles and pan drop every 50k.
This would be keeping the ****** happy with clean ATF+4.

I think for now I am just going to have a flush done at the dealership, and do the filter pan drop and install the drain plug next year (I only drive probably 7k a year)
But another idea I was reading about was the Trans-go shift correction kit? $40 plus a couple hundred to get it installed at a good shop.
Anyone run this kit? I was reading on lost it should correct some of the OD issues, and give it a smoother cleaner shift, while prolonging the life?
Any advice??

If I had a KJ at 90,000 miles and was not sure if the pan had been dropped before, it would get done ASAP. The main reason for pan drop is not only to change the filter, but remove particles/filings from the pan and around the sump pump. You get an idea of condition of the ****** by the amount of filings or lack of.
I had posted before regarding the Trans-go kit, due to my ****** hesitating sometimes at a light to shift into first gear. This problem was addressed by dealer uploading some new software update/(shift point correction) to the TCM. 2004 KJ. The problem still remains, (it is better than before) and I am just careful about taking off from light easier, ensuring it is in first gear, before heavier acceleration. It acts as if there is pressure problem in fluid -TC exists, acting like a low fluid condition, but with these computerized transmissions, who the **** knows. With my powertrain warranty about to expire, I am still wondering if I should try to make them replace the TC.
Ok so back to trans-go, I am not convinced it will do anything regarding the hunting between OD and 3rd gear, when in essence the the shift points are controlled by computer and the TC is weak in my opinion.
If anyone knows of a better TC (torque converter for the 42RLE) please post what you know....
I simply turn off the OD most times until I am at highway speeds above 50 mph, and anytime a hill is involved. (this also allows fluid to warm up quicker when cold)

Well its only 75k, and the guy I bought it from got it from a dealership with 45k (probably a lease or trade-in) and they may have gone through it, maybe not.
But maybe I will just drop the pan this weekend or next week, and check out the magnet and get a new pan cover and add a drain hole to it. That way I can get the 5 or so new quarts in, and just wait a week or two to do the flush at the dealership.

find it at the moment, but I read a TSB from Chrysler stating that flushing should be AVOIDED.
IMHO a pan drop / filter change is more than enough ( be careful with the #@/=! O-ring).
