Hi Gang,
Just a quick one about a noise coming from the transmission.
2002 Jeep Liberty . 2 wheel drive,Automatic ******.
When changing from park to reverse there is a series of very rapid clicks that continues for maybe a second or slightly more.
It appears to be coming from the ******.
I took her to my local transmission guy and he assured me that it is a normal sound and that it is valves opening and helping distribute fluid.
He said that the sound level varies from vehicle to vehicle and that I shouldn't worry either way based on the volume.
I could record this audio and post it somewhere if any one wants to hear it.
You would have to help me on how to do that.
I have to say to myself that I don't doubt him as he had ample opportunity to recommend work for himself..
I thought I could share this information.. Of course I am also open to other opinions.

I think it's more like buzzing sound versus clicks.
it's the solenoids working.

Yep, totally normal. The '02s and early '03s have the 45RFE so they click, while later models have the 42RLE ****** and they make a buzzing sound. Welcome to the world of Chrysler transmissions :waytogo:

Not just the Liberty. My wife's old Chrysler mini vans did that, as have other Chrysler's that I've heard too. I likened the sound to more of a ratcheting noise.
