Do all KJ's come with a transmission cooler? The reason I ask is because I thought a transmission cooler only came with the towing package. However, I noticed that I have a Transmission cooler on mine and I didn't get the towing package. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks.

You mean 545RFE,and yes you should also have a ****** cooler, being a oil burner and all.

ya that too! thanks... Yes the 3 speed torque flite, ****** thats been arround since 1956, extruded to include a 2 speed under/over back in the 70's making a total of 6 speeds, even though its called a 5 speed, and in some cases they even call it a 4 speed(go figure). The one that EVERY dodge w/ an auto ****** has under the hood since 1956 (in some variation or another) cept a few odd balls floating around ovr the years. The two separate gear boxes in there accnt for much of the sluggish "gear finding" that happens in these babys, among other things.... Wish they would start ovr already sheesh. My LEAST favorite thing on my jeep, can ya tell?

Man i hope switching to another oil makes that go away =D <-----EDIT that no longer makes sense (was in reference to my oil burning, NOT my ******, if changing the oil could fix the ******, WOW, far out!)

The "oil burner" phrase was in reference to you having a desiel.

The 545RFE is bassically the 45RFE but takes the "2nd" 2nd gear in the 45RFE and incorperates into the normal shifting instead of only high speed down shifts like the 45RFE does.In theory you could reprogram the 45RFE to make it a 545RFE,but it would be easier to just swap in a 545RFE.

heheh oh, didnt know Diesels carried that nick name, but i know why! Mine is burning oil, i have a thread in the CRD section, thought thats what you where refering to! =D

As for the shift programing on these two variants, im "one up'ed" again on Dodge auto ****** trivia! Didnt know that either cool =D Since im kinda pickin your brain here....

When i turn off the O/D, do i get 4 or 3 speeds, ive not been careful enough to tell. and are they all from the 3 speed torque flite, or mixed w/ the 2 speed over/under drive unit? Hope i havent de-railed this tread too badly, te he he.....

The 545RFE has 2 OD,so yes you would shut both off hitting the OD off button.

Gear Ratio Table
45RFE----1st--3.00
2nd(up)1.67
2nd(dn)1.50
3rd--1.00
4th--.75

545RFE-----1st--3.00
2nd(up)1.67
2nd(DN)1.50
3rd--1.00
4th--.75
5th--.67
