Hey guys my KJ is 06 and it is 2wd. I've been toying the idea of making my Liberty a 4wd. I would buy the parts, like the ****** and tranfere case off ebay and the rest of the stuff I would probably get at the dealership or junk yards. From what I figured it should cost me between 3 and 4000 to do it, cause me and some friends are going to do the work ourselves. I'm thinking since mine is an 06 that I would need a ****** from 05 and up because of the ****** computer and as far t-cases are concerned I assume that any year t-case should work. I know it would be easier to sell my Liberty or just buy a another one with 4wd, but I'm to upside down in it to sell it or trade it in. What do you guys think?

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Mnay have asked what you are asking, the answer is still the same,it's really not worth the money,it would be cheaper to trade in and get a 4x4 KJ.Even if you lose money on the trade it will be cheaper then converting.

You will need a BCM(and have it programed for a 4x4 KJ),and have the PCM reprogrammed for a 4x4,both may not take if you have the OEM alarm,to disable the airbags in 4low and such. Then there is the t-case,both driveshafts, rear crossmember, rear ******/t-case mount, must dismantle the ****** and put in the 4x4 short output shaft(or get a 4x4 ******),shift linkage/lever,center console, front diff(and all mount brackets),CV shafts, and there are many more nuts/bolts that are needed.$3000-$4000 just might cover it if you use all used parts. That's alot of work, and your KJ is still worth no more and your warrenty is all gone since your VIN states you have a 2wd KJ.

Thats my point exactly, I don't know why jeep makes 2wd's either. Why would I need the pcm reprogrammed?
