Hey Guys,

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty I got in May of last year. I have had it about one year and have put roughly 20,000 miles on it. It had 26k on it when I got it and has just under 46k now.

It's the stock Liberty Sport Edition with the 3.7 Liter V6 engine. The only upgrades I have done to the Jeep are installing a K&N High Flow drop in filter and running Synthetics in it.

I am looking for upgrades that would maximize mpg for the truck. I was thinking about getting a K&N Cold Air Intake and the Stainless Steel Broiler Exhaust (Duel) from Mopar. Any ideas, also is there anything I can do that is cheaper then those type of modifications?

I have both in my '05. Don't waste your money on the FIPK, it didn't change my mileage at all.

The Mopar/Borla dual output exhaust is nice, i've gained about 1-2mpg. But you might be able to get similar gains from less expensive exhaust systems. Before i bought it, i figured out long i'd have to keep my KJ before i broke even in gas savings; in my case it was about 5 years.

Another thing to look into is a modified throttle body. The Fastman sells one, or if you could even modify your own. I've heard nothing but good things about the Fastman throttle bodies, its the next upgrade on my list.

Sell the K&N on Ebay and buy an Amsoil EAA201 drop-in filter then add the muffler of your choice to the factory pipes. They factory intake flows more air than the 3.7L can use and the factory pipes are large and free flowing enough to not need an expensive aftermarket system. Then take the money you saved on the intake and cat-back and buy more fuel.
