Just wondering what people are running out there besides stock tires and if you have changed your ratios?

Thanks

Are you lifted or stock?
If stock amount of sag you have ( measure in front middle of the wheel to bottom of the flare

I've ran 32s on my 04 with 4 inches of lift and 4.10 gears
on my 03 I'm running 2.5 inches of lift, 265-70-16s and when I find another set of diffs will be going to 4.10s on it
stock height 245-70-16s is about it

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
When my KJ was lifted and still had IFS I ran 265/75R16's with 4.10's(stock was 3.73's) but wished for 4.56's(that was before the JBA diff).

My KJ now SFA'd I'm running 35" tires and 5.13 gears,should've went to 5.38's for were I live.Granted once I'm below 3000' I burn rubber everytime I take off with 5.13's.

on my 03 I'm running 2.5 inches of lift, 265-70-16s and when I find another set of diffs will be going to 4.10s on it

I'll be installing a JBA 2.5" kit. I want to incrase the tire size a little to a 245/70-17 ( I picked up 17's super cheap), but not if its going to really effect the drivability of my KJ.

I drive a ton for work so I thought it may add a little to my mpg. I plan on easy trail rides since I know live near a lot of trails in SoCal. No rock crawling or anything to that extent. It is a CRD with a ECO flash from GDE, so it has a little more power over stock.

I found this calc today, 4Lo.com :: Tire Size Change, New Gear Ratio Calculator looks like it would change it to a 3.53 effectively. I guess O can live with that until a can afford new diffs, at that time may go a little bigger and re-gear accordingly.

Any additional thoughs and input is appreciated!

Thanks!

235/85r16s with 4.10 gears.

I had these tires for 6 months before i had diff gears done. It was pia seeing rpm go up and down and felt too much loss in power.

245/75r16 or 31x10.50r15 with 4.10 are probably a lot better than how mine is.

Transmission is going to shift a whole lot more, gas mileage will go down , just two of the negatives BUT I'm running almost the same size tires height wise ( 265-70-16 ) on 2.5 inches of JBA coilovers .IT WILL NOT add mileage only take away since the engine will be lugging down more , have to run with the OD off more
HAD,...............the 4.10 front and rear diffs ready to go in which is what is needed to run properly but they were stolen along with my 04 KJ
here is 2.5 inches of lift and 30.6 inch tires
Did you get the JBA UCAs ?? OH and if you ever want to go bigger you will need more lift , next step up to 4 inches

I did get the UCA's with the lift.

I think I'm going to try the 30.6" tire and see how much of a change it is. With the CRD I have more torque over the 3.7's. May not relly help that much. We'll see,

Your pic has me pumped to get the lift installed! Just need it to get cooler out so I can do the work.

You'll notice some difference for sure, have done 2 CRDs for customers and both I could tell after going to 245-75-16s from 235-70-16s

How bad was the difference in drivability? The 245/75-17s is about 31.5" That's an inch bigger then what I have in mind. and 2.5" over stock.

There is a local KJ with maybe an OME lift, it has 235/70-17 on it. So that's a 30". I have yet to talk to whoever owns it.

I hate to invest in the tires and have it drive like total crap.

If you aren't regearing I'd stick with at the most 30s
I'm getting about a 30.6" and I'm sure I'll notice power loss
31" and no regear would be sluggish and you'd better get used to using that O/D button

not a crd , but i put 255/70/16 (30.2) on recently and they handle much better than the stock size i had on before....but that expected with an upgrade in tire quality. I lost an average of .5 mpg and havent noticed any loss in power even on hills. This was also with much more aggressive tires that also weighed more and new steel rims that weighed more. Any bigger than that i bet power and mpg loss are much more noticeable.
