will a 265/75/16 tire fit on a 16x8 wheel?

Well it all depends, sure it will fit, works better on a 7 inch wheel
plus depends on what you are going to install it on, how much lift you have and what gears you have , then also the backspacing of the 8 inch wide wheel

Asking that question just opens up a whole bag of other questions
If its going in the front yard to plant flowers around it by all means do it

I'll add that you know that its a 32 inch tire, if you are installing it on a KK then 4 inches of lift, regear and again depending on the backspacing it still may or may not work

im new to the whole jeep thing so im unsure. would a 31/10.5r15 on a 15x8 wheel work better ... i dont have a lift yet either btw

If you don't have a lift yet, give up on a 8 inch wide wheel plus anything over a 30 inch tire. They are going to rub.
And also there isn't a tire that we can run that really needs a 8 inch wide wheel , 7 inch work better and unlifted you have to stay with the same backspacing as stock
