Not for the KJ, for the WK, but I think both are glass so I figured I could ask here. :happy175:

Got about a 12" crack in it. What is the best brand? I had a Safelite one in the Durango, but I remember it having wavy spots. So I kind of wrote them off. Got a Pilkington in the KJ and it seems good (it was there when I bought the KJ).

So anyone have any suggestions for a brand? I am going to check with the dealer's collision center as well as ABRA (anyone know what brand they carry)?

Do you have comprehensive (I don't mean collision) coverage with your insurance? Most do since it's so cheap. If so, the insurance company will cover the windshield. With the company I have, the deductible is less than a collision claim, I believe mine is $50. They won't count the claim against you either....unless your ins. company *****.

Too late for this time, but you may want to look into it in the future. Comprehensive coverage (fire, wind, theft) costs me about $34 for 6 months. How much is a windshield gonna set you back? Or are you saying you have comp, but they don't include glass replacement? In which case, you have an ins. company that *****!

One thing I like about MA. Mandatory glass coverage for all insurance. I have had 4 windshields replaced by Safelite. Only once did I have to get a tow to their garage due to weather. All very professional and nice guys. They even taught me a little about my Jeep while fixing it. Can't speak for price though since I never saw the bill. Bonus. I Requested OEM glass and got it.

It'd be $50 per vehicle, so $150 total, not worth it for me given that this is the only windshield I've damaged from a road. (Durango was my bad and not road related):icon_lol:

So your glass has the Jeep/Mopar logo on it? I didn't know that was an option!

Replaced my windshield about 6 years ago, two weeks later a rock hit dead center at the bottom and then spread over, still like that . :icon_lol: Bugs other people more than it does me.

Here in Illinois, you can get a ticket for having a cracked windshield. If nothing else, it gives cops a reason to pull you over and possibly find something else to ticket you for. Over the years, I've had at least a half dozen windshields get cracked and replaced...just "lucky" I guess!

How much is a piece of OEM glass HJ compared to others? I would rather have the OEM by far.

Never had any issues with windshields, until I got 0-deductible glass coverage. Within a couple weeks, a chunk of flying debris wrecked my windshield, and I had to get it replaced. My brother-in-law did the same thing - same company, same plan, signed up and almost immediately some doofus smashed his rear windshield. Funny how 'luck' works!:icon_lol:

My Jeep is used and has a Pilkington badge in the glass at bottom center. Is this a PPG or has my windshield been changed?
Also, anyone know what the T-shaped lines are for in the glass near the wipers? When I first saw them I was hoping it was a wiper heater element but not so lucky.

Unless it crosses in front of your line of sight they really don't care here. I used to get them replaced right away as well anymore whole lot of other things come before a cracked windshield!
I could do like they have to do in Tanzania . If you have a crack there you have to take thin tape and tape over the area that is broken/cracked. Some of the cars there have more areas taped than what is not !:happy175::happy175:But no law requires replacement, just tape em up:icon_lol:

Its hard to speak for American insurance companies as I am in Canada but most insurance companies also have an endorsement limiting the glass coverage under comprehensive (13D here in Alberta, Canada) and still subject to the Comprehensive deductible, To have no glass limitation the cost of the Comprehensive coverage is also more expensive, I can bet Insurance companies down there limit the glass coverage, Most companies add it standard and don't tell you, My Comprehensive deductible is $250 (Standard here) with limited glass but my father in law runs a body shop so I get my windshields at cost, A comprehensive claim should never increase your premiums due to the claim, Unless your Insurance company is a mobster LOL.
