Somewhat Better Tire For 2011 Liberty

Just curious if anyone has any suggestions on a tire upgrade.

I'm looking for something I can slap on the stock 16X7 wheel with no vehicle lift.

Maybe something a little wider, and a LITTLE more aggressive. Nothing outrageous, something that is comfortable and not loud on the road but will give me a little edge if I need to get off the pavement.

IF your suspension has not sagged too much yet , then move up to a 245-70-16
As far as brand/ tread pattern need more info like where you live, snow? How much, any off road, back road,
Or only on paved in town roads

Also measure left front on level ground, middle of the wheel( hub area ) to bottom of the flare
Brand new stock KKs were 18 inches
These Libertys , KJ and KKs both have too soft suspensions and tend to sag a lot over time
Have had them in my shop, only 78,000 miles and already sagged over 1.5 inches
I swap out my suspensions as soon as I buy them almost , due to the way soft ride

Thanks Tom, I will definitely do what you asked.

As far as where I live and use, I live in Mississippi so snow winter weather really isn't an issue. Although last year (I had an 2010 Explorer 4WD at the time) we had that major ice storm in the South and I would have been lost without 4WD.

As far as usage, main just something to get me across unpaved roads, not much more than that. No Rock climbing or anything. Maybe just up and down mountain roads, national park roads and things of that nature.

For example a weekend trip of 450 miles where the trip to and back from the destination is all paved, and 50 or so miles at the destination maybe off road.

Something that isn't too loud on the road, but will give me a little extra if I decide to leave the pavement.

There are several out there that would fit your needs
Jump on Tire rack, Simple tire, Discount tire and sites like that and look over tread designs etc
Best tires i have ran lately are the Goodyear Duratracs, Falken Wildpeak AT3s and now I have the General Grabbers on my DD ( the 03 ) and like them so far
Havent had them out across the farm much since i sold all the cattle for this year, but do OK
Don't think they make them in a 245-70-16 though

I like a couple of the examples you gave me in your initial post.

I'll probably go with one of those.

Eventually I'll do a small lift/ level nothing drastic.

Just out of curiosity what would be your first mod if you were me?

skids, tow points and better suspension ( which means no stupid spacer lifts ) LOL
Better suspension is better on road as off road , handles way better, rides better
When I bought the 03 I already had a lift, skids, all fluids etc bought before I even found one to buy
The 05 i bought for my step father so didn't lift it right away since him and Mom were both over 85 then

Thats after all fluids,plugs, filters etc are changed
while on the subject, these like some parts way better than others , for example spark plugs, only NGK coppers every 30,000 miles, HOAT coolant and other items like that

FWIW . . . If you go with Falken tires, I'd choose the Wildpeak AT Trail over the Wildpeak AT3 since most of your travel is highway and you have a concern with road noise. The AT Trails' are quiet and typically have better treadwear and load specifications in comparison to AT3s'.

I'll definitely check them out.

I have to go to Walmart today and it seems they carry them.

I know BF Goodrich TA KO2’s are usually overpriced, but if you can find them on a crazy sale like I did, they are worth considering also. They are quiet on the road and a beast off. They are an all terrain tire so they aren’t as aggressive looking as a mud tire but they get great marks on the tire comparison sites. Nate from Dirt Lifestyle likes them as well:

I put on Cooper discover at 4s, 235/70x16 on my '12 & I love them. Great in the snow and rain and decent off roads, not noisy and comfortable & made in the USA. And no I don't work for Cooper, just really great tires.

I had Cooper Discoverer A/T3’s before - great tire for on road and occasional off road. Was happy with weather handling and traction and noise. I got P-rated ones so they didn’t last as long offroad as the LT tires I’ve gotten since.

I am running Yokohama HT/X with great luck for several years now on my 2006 CRD. I drive pavement, improved dirt roads (ish), unimproved roads and Tin Cup Pass in Colorado without an issue.

I've used Dueler A/T Revo's since 2007. The original Revo's developed road noise after some time, but the latest tire, the Revo 3 seems to have that fixed. For me, they are terrific tire, just not cheap.
