Just for background, here is where I sat about six weeks ago:

So this morning I get up to leave for what would have been my third interview with a company who has hinted very strongly that I would be getting a job offer today. Finally.

Dressed in my nicest suit I walked out to my jeep outside the miserable apartment I moved into four days ago. The key fob wouldn't unlock the doors. I thought, oh, rats, a dead battery? Nope. Someone tried to steal it last night. They busted out a window and beat the ever loving dogcrap out of the steering column in an attempt to hotwire my Jeep and make off with it. The drivers side looked like an exploded diagram of the entire left side of the dash.

So today, instead of finally getting the job I have been after I am calling them to tell them I won't make it, talking to cops, calling my insurance company, and then finally watching it be towed off for repairs. $500 deductible (which I don't have) and no rental car on my policy...

I quit. Everything, as in you name it, I no longer give a crap. Trying hard is for suckers.

Perhaps between all of us we can come up with parts or money to cover the deductible? I can maybe throw in like $20.

I'll come up with it somehow. I'm just not finding any easy ways to do anything at this point. (An understatement.)

Tonight I am mostly just depressed. I apologize for the tone of my post. Maybe it will seem different in the morning.

My mantra all day long has been "It could have been worse..."

Could have been better too, dang it.

Sorry about your luck prof. But yeah at least they weren't able to take your jeep. I'd happily pitch in to help you cover the cost but unfortunately I'm not in a much better situation than you are myself :(

Sorry to hear about this unfortunate incident Steve!
I just spent the last 20 minutes calming myself down... feeling your pain!
Only the lowest of life forms, better known as complete looser- scumbags do this.
I had visions of finding someone inside the jeep & ..
Lets put it this way .... hope they have good medical insurance!

Hope you don't/didn't miss that interview. It will make things possible going forward. Wish I were closer to give you a lift.

Oh wow... so sorry to hear all of that. Glad they didn't make off with the Jeep, but not so glad that it put a damper (understatement?) on the rest of your day. :(

Sorry to hear this happened, I think thieves should have their hands cut off like in other countries! When my pickup truck was stolen the adjuster asked me how much am I looking for, I said nothing, I want the truck back haha, Sadly its coming up on a year and not a single sign or sighting of it, Adjuster is sure it was used for parts because of the condition of it and how awesome it ran, My theory is someone in the area took it, Neighbors for 2 blocks over could hear how well she ran :p, That or they were sick of the cold idle on early winter mornings LOL.

Anyone have any recommendations as to a good type of alarm system? I probably won't get it back until early next week and obviously have no desire to bring it back here so the thief has a second shot at it. Next time he'll probably bring a friend who knows what he's doing and will get the whole thing. This is the first time in the eighteen months since I got the Jeep that I miss my old Tracker.

Sorry to hear that. Try to work it out with the company who was hiring, don't give up yet. As for security, maybe pull the fuel pump fuse when you park it? It's free plus they'll only get down the block before they get seen and have to ditch it.

Hopefully if the company is interested, you can explain the situation and get a reschedule on the interview.

Good luck buddy
