Well, last year at my inspection I was told that the rotors would pass but just barely.. So, this year I am going to replace the rotors and pads before I go for inspection...Should be a pretty quick and dirty job....I don't think I have ever had a vehicle that gets that much brake dust on the wheels! It seems I have to clean those wheels every other day..Hopefully the new pads I bought will help to minimize the dust.

Does it ever stop?

Mow the lawn, fix the car, paint the trim, change the diaper, do this do that.. Boy what I wouldn't do for high school again!

Yea, it never stops.

When you get the rear rotors don't forget to get the e-brake pads. They look like mini-drum brake shoes and apply pressure to the inside of the rotor.

Must be the pads on yours causing the brake dust.

Good luck with your inspection.

Inspection? Is that that thing where they tell you what to fix on your car in exchange for money, and if you pass, you get this stupid sticker? :D

I inspect my own vehicles. Don't need anyone to do it for me. :p

ANYWAY, if you bought your Liberty used, it may have come with cheap brake pads. From the factory they are equipped with ceramic pads, and I've always used those as replacements. They do a wonderful job with braking and keeping brake dust down.

But if you think the Liberty is bad, you should have seen how bad my mom's '93 Plymouth Duster's brakes could do to some wheels in a matter of HOURS!

The only inspection they do here is emissions testing, which now consists of plugging your car into an OBD II scanner and then charging you $30 for that "service".

Emission testing is nothing but a money making SCAM for the state! So, is yearly inspections.,.OK , the inspection is fine, but every year. I have gone 5 years without anything. How bout lets make it every 3 years. And get rid of emission testing altogether,

Same in New York, although several years ago, they used to physically shove a monitor up your tailpipe (carlonoscopy) to read your actual CO & HC emissions in PPM. No mas. Now they do the OBDII thing. Of course, they charge $37 & not $30.

Welp, brakes done....That was easy! took about an hour...The rotors were STUCK! Had to slam them with the dead blow a few times, but they gave in!

We used to have the carlonoscopy in Md too, not sure what they do there now though. Here in PA they plug you into the state computer for OBDII.

I mean don't get me wrong I like that they inspect vehicles, they should. I don't want death traps riding around! I know too, I used to have TWO 1968 Dodge chargers (one Hemi and one 318) the 318 was a bomb and I DROVE IT all the time. Hell, I had Flintstone brake holes on the passenger side! Sure was cool watching the road go by at 75mph! The gas tank had a hole in the top so you could never fill er up. the drivers seat mounts rusted away, so f you gassed it hard youd recline FAST! AND I DROVE THIS THING!

My Hemi, she was a different story, she was my baby. Good ole Betsy, Sure do miss her! Traded her for a 1985 Corvette, as my graduation present! Hated that F*$%kin vette! Rattle bucket! Fast rattle bucket though! Chick magnet from hell, Shallow Bi*ches!

Any way,, goin out testin the brakes, if you don't hear from me anymore then you know I did something wrong!

I have proved that by, bypassing just about every emissions related item on my car (Former Dodge Avenger), and it STILL passed the PA emissions testing. They are supposed to do a visual inspection of the emissions hoses, but they can't see what's INSIDE them...

When I disconnected my EGR, I simply placed a vacuum plug on the nozzle from the plenum, then put the vacuum line on over top of it.

I gutted my PCV too. It was THERE, but nothing was in it, so the crank freely vented into the intake, placed an oil catch in between.

Used CEL/MIL eliminators on the O2 sensors: http://cloud.prohosting.com/davenger/mileliminate.html - shows how to build your own...

With all that, it STILL PASSED emissions, so, yeah, it's a bunch of crap!
