Project to divert KK coil to KJ

When I measured it, The strut extends to a coil length of 333mm. In the photo, 290 - Isolator 10 + Spacer 53 - Clevis mounting position 10. The RC spacer was 53mm. I mistakenly thought it was 35mm. Since the clevis and RC spacer are in close contact, the installation position difference from the...

What did you do to your jeep today?

The temperature rose and the Trac-Lok started chattering. Even with 85W-140 and additives, it gets noisy the second summer. Maybe it's because the tread is 120mm wider. It smells too bad.

Project to divert KK coil to KJ

Daystar. Is it alright? Daystar has a spacer for 1.5 inch UP. Probably a 20mm spacer. Amazon.com says it does not ship internationally. How about Daystar2.5UP? It would be a 31.75mm spacer. Apparently it can be shipped overseas, so I bought it. First, the instruction manual is difficult to...

Project to divert KK coil to KJ

From the coil length at 1G, The force to compress the coil was calculated to be 3350N for the wheel and 6700N for the coil. A 1G load of about 5050N is applied to the front wheel, so A force of 10100N is applied to the coil. The missing part probably depends on the angle. To avoid complicating...

Project to divert KK coil to KJ

To begin with, I was considering rebuilding the front struts. This is because the shock absorber is the same as when shipped from the factory. In Japan, there are distributors such as ARB, Teraflex, Bilstein, RC, Rancho and H&R. KYB is a Japanese company. However, they do not carry KJ parts...

Project to divert KK coil to KJ

This project started by acquiring a used KK strut for $20. At first, I was thinking of just checking the structure or reusing the clevis. However, the free length of the spring attached to it was 25mm shorter than that of the KJ. The wire diameter is also thick. The number of turns is also...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I got two Monroes. And I got the forbidden lift kit. I don't like the angle of the mount plate and the mount bush. So, I won't use it as is. Under research. Or rather, the shock boots aren't included...I don't use it though.

    Yet another Engine Swap

Also the valve cover gasket. The harness is in the way and the screws are far away. And oil tends to leak.

The service manual contains definitions that cannot be measured without a flat floor and a height gauge.

    Ball jointed sway bar links

I don't feel the need to align the centers. Below is a steel. In your photo the screws look short. T-series tightening torque cannot be tolerated unless there are at least 5 threads...

    Ball jointed sway bar links

Since Tein is M12, a collar was not necessary. Also, since a washer with a thickness of about 2 mm is placed on the ball joint side, it is possible to replace the washer with the collar. I am not a Tein salesman.

    Ball jointed sway bar links

Iron may be better because the tightening torque is higher. I tightened it with 120N・m.

    Ball jointed sway bar links

One concern. To adjust the diameter, a flanged collar seems preferable. This way, the tightening force of the nut will be applied to the collar and the collar will not wobble in the hole. I hope it goes well.

    Ball jointed sway bar links

The one I bought is Tein, a suspension parts manufacturer that is famous in Japan mainly for racing-related products. Tein also has a base in the USA, so you may be able to buy it there. https://www.tein.com/products/sblink_rod.html I used SPS23-R5913. The mounting screws are a little short.

    Quiet AT tires

Vote for G015. in Japan, AT standard is Yokohama, Others are always compared to yokohama. I believe that unequal pitch blocks were used to suppress resonance. Currently, TOYO's RT is slightly dominant. But that's a question of wildness in design.

    Drive Train Issues

Let's vote here. https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/how-long-did-your-42rle-automatic-transmission-last-before-it-blew-up.78374/ If resale is 0, It's probably cheaper to repair it and drive it. Or follow consumer capitalism and buy a new car every three years.

    KJ general reliability information

The U-joint will come apart if you remove the C-clip. You can put grease in there and put it back together or replace it with one with grease zark. There are several bearing diameters and joint widths, so it's a good idea to measure them in advance.

    Ball jointed sway bar links

I was a little confused whether to attach it to the front side or the back side of the LCA tab. I'm using an RC clevis spacer(about35mm), so I use it at about 180mm. If there is nothing near the clevis top mount, extending it a little more should be a better geometry. Before driving, check...
