After a resounding success with some lab-brewed powder coat stripper, I now have clean aluminum parts in addition to all the other geegaws.
The experiment will go as follows:
1. POR-15 Caliper Kit
2. Duplicolor
3. Rustoleum Acid Etch
#1 is a complete kit. #2 and #3 are prep and primer to be...
Yeah...thank Douglas Adams for the Prefect joke. Most on this side of the pond never got the joke. I never understood the design, particularly when the Prefect is like the only car more underpowered that the VW 1200cc flat fours of the slightly later era.
Never was a Prefect here, but always...
Mwa ha ha haaaaaa!
Better living through hazardous materials recycling.
Mixed up some seriously ********* powder coat stripper. Skipped the hydrofluoric acid though- it's nasty all on its own.
I added toluene and acetone to the dichloromethane/phenol/formic acid mix and added just a touch of...
Got a bunch of boxes of chemicals to treat and coat aluminum parts. Will report on that in the other thread.
Gonna get weather well above freezing next week so the crunch is on to get stuff ready for installation.
Also reverse engineered a well known and top rated chemical stripping solvent...

As others have mentioned in addition to voltage, the numerous ground straps contribute to the sensitivity issues in the brain box.
In the...
Thanks to filthy road melt I noticed interesting things about Rubicon hood design. Sure the stock hood vents are non-functional plastic boxes but the filth demonstrates the hood was designed so they would work.
Legit post as my neighbor's LIBERTY IS IN THE BACKGROUND.
Sweeeet. But why no Bronco Raptor High Package? ;)
Note: Dude on campus has one...was very hard to keep a straight face pulling him out of a big plow pile last week after the blizzard...
POR-15 and duplicolor stuff arrives tomorrow. Just finished prepping the fume hood in my personal lab to start coating parts this weekend. Gotta do some overtime in the labs anyway this weekend, so can get stuff coated before and after shift and on lunch break. Might as well be super efficient...
Yeah, they were fine for temp use. Perhaps you could bolt on some F-350 (or other bro-dozer) towing mirrors from the scrap yard? Or perhaps a doors off set for a wrangler?
I used these when I towed the camping trailer for the Boy Scouts before the helicopter parents pissed me off and I quit volunteering.
Totally forgot I had them. Disclaimer: I skipped the straps and fastened with screws...
Looks like dual battery system replacement was a success. Now have to trouble shoot that pesky driver's front lock actuator. Doors will autolock and unlock, and with fob, but not with switch...which I already replaced.
