I can't tell for sure but my gut tells me the door is closed in the cold direction. Meaning you should have very little heat. Can you get something hook shaped (maybe a pick) and GENTLY try to move the flap while cycling the switch? I really have no idea how you'd check the switch unless you can...
I had a defrost only issue in my 05 and it was at the switch behind the bezel. One of the lines (vacuum) was not connected. No vacuum to move anything. The default is the defrost for safety reasons.
I could be wrong so maybe the KK is different. The KJ blend door is controlled by a small electric motor and just controls temp via mixing. Like Bill said the direction or function is controlled by a different vacuum actuator mechanism. Some people call this a "blend" as well but it really just...
Not exactly sure what the problem is, temp or direction? Blend door just controls temp not direction. I never had a KK but I thought Chrysler got less stupid with them and the blend door actuator is accessible without pulling the dash. You need to find someone who knows or a reliable diagram...
Doubtful you'll see anything but wouldn't hurt to watch while you're listening. My 02 made a distinct buzz when the motor worked. Mine failed slowly. The door defaults to cold when the engine is shut off. The motor worked fine in that direction but would stick going from cold to warm. finally it...
What year are we talking about? You should be able to hear the motor working when you move from hot to cold or vice versa. Get you ear up to the dash and see if you can hear a buzz.
Not sure what the heater hose route looks like on a KK but the water pump and I think timing cover on the KK and KJ are the same. The hose that comes off the timing cover higher and closer to the water pump carries coolant to the heater core inlet. Maybe you can trace that back to the firewall...
Like uss2defiant said, probably the tstat or WP. Tstat is easy but WP not so much. I'd still make sure it's not just air in the system.
Why it isn't overheating? Maybe you caught it just in time. Some component in the system could be in the process of failing so maybe Tstat is partially opening...
Replace the cap anyway. May have worked air out. Make sure you top off the overflow tank (HOAT only) or you may suck more air in as the coolant in the system contracts as it cools.
I'm assuming the rad was filled when you removed the cap? Fill overflow tank. replace cap with new one. See if that helps. May have pulled in air or next, maybe thermostat stuck.
Hmmm. Makes you wonder. I'd say have a look at what they did or take it somewhere else if you aren't comfortable doing that stuff yourself. I'm not very fluent in KKs but I don't recall hearing about ABS units/pumps failing. Seems like they didn't lube the pins right or used old dirty ones...
Welcome! When was the last time the brakes were replaced or serviced? I'd check the simple stuff first. Maybe the slide pins just froze up when they heated up with the stop and go traffic. might just need some lube. Maybe opening the bleeder will free them up if it's a fluid issue. Try a brake...
Like you said the mounting points for the 42RLE external cooler are important. That's a good price for the Mopar. Mine was for an 02 with the 45RFE so I needed the internal cooler and had no external one. Even if the MOPAR rad has the internal taps it's okay since you can just leave them plugged...
Get the Mopar. I've used Spectra in 3-4 other vehicles and they were fine but tried a Spectra years ago in my 02 and wound up changing it again about 6 months later. I've heard the same from others who have used other aftermarket ones too. There's something about the aftermarket ones that just...
