Like everything in life there is a happy medium… you won’t find a much better explanation than Kai’s. Pre-load 8:40 followed by brief spacer discussion.
You can find them in just about every configuration. I use a 5 1/2” drop to level everything out. Some quick measurements will get you the drop you need.
In short… you are pre loading the spring which will wear it out faster and stress all the other IFS components causing their earlier demise. Upper ball joints especially. In my experience it’s only cheaper at the start.
It looks like you may have enough room but it could be the camera angle… the clevis can be opened up with a little force…. It won’t hurt it.
You can use a ratchet strap to the opposite control arm to pry the LCA down without unbolting it… the bushings will allow for a bit of rotation.

I assume your talking axle not steering? and that you mean intermediate and were autocorrected… lol
