What did you do to your jeep today?

My KJ came on KO2's (so represent 1/2 its value), they were fine but can't say they were any different to the Grabbers I've been used to (although comparing a KJ on BFG's & an XJ on Grabbers is a thankless - & pretty pointless - exercise). Then a pair of KO3's turned up on Fleabay at a good...

Recommendation for roof mounted lights for a Jeep Liberty?

That particular Renegade* is, at best a sub-model, hood & grille aside, really a trim package. I thought those roof lights were hard to find, as there weren't that many pre-facelift Renegades & so many people wanted them for their Libbies. Not plug & play - 'cos there's nothing to plug them...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Then you won't have that problem & changing the rear shox at least will be a doddle & save $$'s for sure.

What did you do to your jeep today?

& there was me thinking rear shox are one of the very few easy jobs on a KJ. XJ top mounts are completer different, as are the (well chronicled) problems. This problem is more akin to leaf spring front mounting bolts where Loctite is more of problem than rust - &, if you're working at ground...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Surprised you picked on the Prefect 'cos (apart from the fact I thought we only sent you Anglias & vans) it was quite advanced in its day - if you overlook the pre-war flathead & 3-speed they all inherited from the previous model. It served its purpose and despair would be reserved for those who...

First (for me) Oil Change ....

It was of those strap wrenches I destroyed trying to remove my filter, & it was a new one at that, the 1/2" drive opened up like a rose in bloom. With hindsight, I suppose I should've used a socket on the external hex (but I've been using one of these for so long, the strap's been repaired...

What did you do to your jeep today?

The marque survived the travesty that was Mustang II - but this might be a step too far. There are a couple in the SE London suburb I'm holed up in during the week. There was a time when a Mustang round those parts would turn heads, now people just shake their heads (whether that in despair or...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Why does the idea of "electric lightning" make me grin?

    Help with Sunroof drains.

I'm told this problem is inevitable (& by no means peculiar to KJ's) which could be a problem one day - 'cos my sunroof doesn't open.

First (for me) Oil Change ....

I assumed you'd gathered them for different purposes but, even so, you've obviously found more uses for them than I have. If a filter is that tight, my concern is that having damaged it to the extent it leaks, I still can't get it off (so no hammering screwdrivers through them for me).

First (for me) Oil Change ....

No idea where/when/how I got mine, but I'd have thought any autoparts or, probably, hardware store, HF, TSC & no the only thing special about a KJ filter (at least the 3.7 flavour) is poor access. I suppose it's just possible that there are different sizes, but not that I'm aware of.

First (for me) Oil Change ....

"a selection of chain wrenches" seems a little excessive. I do have one but, while I had no doubt it'd done the job, I thought it'd damage the filter (& I now know just how much). Also it has the same disadvantage as a strap wrench, it's difficult to fit on this particular filter. My 3-legged...

New KJ in the forum.. Q re wire on underside of hood…

I'd imagine you change the batteries in that fob same way as any other. Shipping from the States depends on the seller: very occasionally it's reasonable - but I have seen £100 quoted for a lightbulb! Then again, internal package mail seems outrageous to me. Then again post to America is hardly...

First (for me) Oil Change ....

Never been convinced about those filter caps, if only because not all filters for the same application are the same - & it restricts you to buying a new filter that fits the cap, for the next time. Perhaps the answer is a K&N one you can use a standard socket on - but that goes against the grain...

Crazy idea for a spare transmission

Thanks - I voted, I mean it would be churlish not to. As KJowner says it's difficult for us given differences in markets/prices/availability (& I'm not sure about the RR/KJ comparison) but when I bought mine (3.7, auto, 120,000 miles, no known faults), 2 years ago, for £1200, there were plenty...

Crazy idea for a spare transmission

I'm not voting because I can't believe $2000 is a good price for a non-runner or, at least, something with a major fault. Don't know about a transmission, but I once replace a clutch by the side of the road where it failed. Oh, & now, I'd wait 'til at least late Spring before taking...

    Confused by part description.

I've never heard of anyone replacing a driveshaft, unless it was damaged. Ujoints (even CVJ's now I suppose) are service items.

First (for me) Oil Change ....

I use 10/30 because it's more readily available & it never really get cold enough to need anything thinner. But that filter! Never before have I had to look up where it was - & even then, if it hadn't been white, I'm not sure I'd have found it. Then it'd been put on by some bear & I broke my...

New to me 2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade

There's a cricketing term "rain stopped play" which, I suspect, resonates with d-i-y mechanics everywhere (at least those of us who do not have the luxury of any form of shelter - other than the vehicle itself. Perhaps I didn't explain myself very well about the works of Mr Haynes; 1st a little...

New to me 2006 Jeep Liberty Renegade

Do you have any reason to believe that the plugs already in it are the wrong ones. Have you looked at (for?) the “Vehicle Emission Control Information” label in the engine compartment for spark plug information? Ignore Haynes when it comes to plugs, it always used to be Champion (for anything &...
