What did you do to your jeep today?

I don’t mind the wear and tear on the vehicle for now, but I’d love to get more than 200-230 miles out of a tank, I don’t like paying that much, especially in the summer when my work is slow.

What did you do to your jeep today?

The gears are my next big project on the Jeep. I’m hoping to find a cheap front axle somewhere with 4.10s. The rear axles seem to be all over, just can’t find the front around here.

What did you do to your jeep today?

I’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the power steering pump then, just in case. I wonder if that’s part of my fuel economy problem as well, I don’t think mine has ever been changed, and I’m at 235000 miles on it. Out of curiosity, what’s normal mileage for you? I’m getting 14-15.5mpg on...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Where did it sound like the squeaking was coming from? I just heard some squeaking start as I pulled into my neighborhood last night, but didn’t hear it this morning driving to work. Mine sounded like it was coming from the drivers side wheel well.

    A/C Summer Vent Temps

I mean, my car has definitely gotten upwards of 180 inside in the dead of summer. It literally feels like climbing into an oven. I really wouldn’t mind modifying a remote start for the truck just to get the a/c to start cooling off before climbing in. Otherwise it’s like sitting in front of a...

    A/C Summer Vent Temps

Man, I wish it was only 90 outside. Forecasted to hit 111 today here.

What did you do to your jeep today?

It was cleaned out when I took it in for the brakes after losing a caliper bolt, they cleaned it out to find the power steering leak I was also having. I figure I’ll clean it again when I’m doing more work in there. It’s hard to keep it clean here in the desert!

What did you do to your jeep today?

I came close to overheating the Jeep and when searching for the problem found this: The plug had been ripped out of where it hangs, and beat around by the serpentine belt. Still don’t know what caused this, or if it can be fixed without buying a new fan. One of the wires, the black wire, came...

    05 Lift questions

I will take a look at the sway bar links and bushings. Those are one of the two components I didn’t replace yet, the other being lower control arm. I’m gonna miss this weather in New York when I get back to Phoenix and spend time outside under my truck looking for the problem!

    05 Lift questions

Just an update. I was able to get a set of Moabs off a wrangler, and they fixed my hitting the UCAs so I was able to remove all spacers now. I also was able to replace my two coopers so now I have falken wildpeaks all around, except the spare. I am hearing a pop on my drivers side when I hit...

    JBA LIFTS

So I’ll revise my down the road plan to 3.5” lift in a few years. Have some goals to hit before I do more work on the truck outside of wheels, and regearing, lift, and bumper are all down the road upgrades.

    JBA LIFTS

Sad day indeed. I was looking at those for a couple years down the road when I wanted to go up to a 4 inch lift.

Advice purchasing 3" Suspension Lift vs 2.5" Block

I second that, I had to replace upper and lower ball joints, went with JBA UCAs, replaced the steering rack and both outer tie rods, and I am currently in need of new wheels because my 255/70/16 tires are pushing into the UCA without a spacer. I’m looking at those same wheels, they seem decent...

    In Dash iPad

If I maintain the radio, the only wiring needed would be for power. Bluetooth is a godsend in this case. My plan was to buy the center section of the dash, figure out how the whole piece is mounted, and mock it up from there. If I can get someone to do a 3D scan for me, I should be able to toy...

    In Dash iPad

I looked at that, unfortunately the double din size is still smaller than an iPad mini. I may have figured out how to do it, albeit expensively, and am pursuing that at the moment. I’ll be sure to update this as I make progress towards it, but it will be a while. After all, my wedding bills...

    05 Lift questions

I went looking for the 4.10 axles today and could only find the rear, not the front axle. When I have the money I will look for axles again, but otherwise I assume my only other option is ordering the parts from jba. As for the heat gun, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. Yeah, just...

    05 Lift questions

After a slight hiccup in the truck, losing a caliper bolt while driving, I have to say I love the way this truck feels now. The only two issues I’m having is that I’m still rubbing up front on the bumper and the inner fender and it definitely is more sluggish than I want. I can fix the sluggish...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Picked up my truck from the shop and spent way too much money. The other day I pulled out of a hardware store and heard a significant popping sound. On driving it to my mechanic it started grinding really bad as I pulled up to the shop. Turns out one of the caliper bolts on the drivers side came...

    In Dash iPad

Just curious as I’ve been toying with the idea of modifying my KJ more now that my lift is done, has anyone mounted an iPad or tablet in the dash where the stereo is? I would love to be able to figure out a way to mount in an iPad Mini, use it for music, navigation, reverse camera, etc. I’ve...

Suspension pop while turning or hitting a bump

While I used a different lift than you (I had the rough country 3” lift), after less than 6 months I’ve had to replace all coils and shocks, upper control arms, lower ball joints, while I don’t know if the spacer lift contributed to it, I had to also replace my steering rack and pinion and outer...
