What did you do to your jeep today?

The squirrels horded all the nuts, packed away for the winter.

spare tire delete/brake light faux utility box

Nicely done! I had been toying with the idea of doing that using an ammo box to put my ratchet straps, tow rope, jumper cables, flares, rocket launchers, rags, shovel, tarp, etc. Hmm...my tailgate isn't big enough, lol.

knocking noise every 5 seconds or so

It's easier to run a shorter belt and bypass the AC pulley, which is what I did.

    V8 Conversion

And the name of the project thread would be "From boat anchor to boat engine". :happy175:

knocking noise every 5 seconds or so

The reason for the power loss is due to the engine's knock sensor picking up the vibration and retarding the ignition timing. That cause and effect is normal, but whatever is causing the knock isn't. Since this happened right after the oil change, look into that as LTC suggested.

What did you do to your jeep today?

What a buncha saps, you're making aspens of yourselves!

What did you do to your jeep today?

I put some more rake in my daughters XJ, used an add-a-leaf. ;)

    Brake Fluid Change

Always bleed from the furthest wheel to the closest; right rear-left rear-right front-left front. Open one bleeder at a time, remove the cap from the reservoir, and let the fluid gravity feed and don't let the fluid level go too low. Close the bleeder when clean fluid starts coming out and move...

    U-Joint Opinions...And Why

I use the heavy duty Spicer greasable joints, I see no reason not to use a greasable one unless you have no intention of ever greasing them. The joints with the fitting in the cap is nice for front u-joint applications where the body isn't accessible (not applicable to ours anyway). The joints I...

    my classic 1970 ford maverick

Not to be critical, but avid classic car owners, as I have been for the past 40+ years, don't take a water hose to their cars, since that makes water get everywhere in places you don't want it to go (inside the doors, inner fender cavities, etc). Unless you already drive it in the rain and don't...

That would be the Cleveland Native Americans. A baseball team in Ohio, currently in the playoffs against the Toronto Bluebirds. ;)

Jeep KJ colors / limited productions colors

Except that we're talking about the colors of our own model year. Mine is an 02, Renegade only Cactus Green, 03 and 04 rules don't apply.

Jeep KJ colors / limited productions colors

I know mine is fairly rare, Cactus green is a Renegade only color (as was light khaki). I've only seen one other like mine in my area.

    hood not closing completely

Since the hood pivots on the latch that's in the middle, cranking the drivers side snubber up more will raise the hood on that side, and lower the hood on the passenger side. You want balance between latch height, and left/right snubber height.

    Opportunity...

Since the Jeep was at a shop, does that mean they "inherited" it from the owner who either left it, or didn't pay a repair bill?

No, the two systems are not connected to each other.

    Odd crack in the windshield

The three major OEM/Dealer replacement windshield manufacturers are PPG, Pikington and AP Tech. Any one of them could have made the original glass, and any different one could now be making the Dealer replacement glass. Companies like Safelight are aftermarket, but aftermarket ones don't...

    Odd crack in the windshield

Murphy's law hard at work, might as well put a "hit me I'm new" sign on it. :happy175: Back when I had a Wrangler, I replaced my windshield. Less than a month later, I get a friggin stone thrown at me, made a nice nickel sized chip right in the line of sight. It was worse than the one I replaced.

    Odd crack in the windshield

Mopar doesn't manufacture glass. Like the other auto makers, they assemble vehicles with parts made by others, so there may be some validity to the glass guys statement. Could be you had a small ding/chip you didn't notice, and it finally spread. $500 deductible, wow, is that a "special"...

Transmission Jumps out of 1st Gear

So you shift like so: put in first, put right hand back to steering wheel, immediately put hand back on shifter to put into second, hand back on steering wheel, back and forth and so on through all the gears? Stuff like that is what wears out the arm and hand. As stated earlier, my hand stays on...
