so today i was able to notice it looks like the rubber trim of the cowl is meant to go under the sides of the windshield side trim. If this is correct can someone let me know...- kenM420

window regulator
factory originals had a factory defect in them...i replaced mine as the regulator cable would snap if rear passenger would continue to hold the window up button. Replacements fix this defect. The one i used has a resistor in the motor or wiring that wont allow over torque on the cable...- kenM420

Wind Noise
only place i get wind noise in my 2005 is from the air coming thru the cowl as fresh air, the seal is more than likely gone bad. I will have to check mine the next time I have the cowl off to clean in there.- kenM420

I believe you could be right in it being someone else's quick fix, i have found that the roof rack trim is attached with oem installed snap type velcro, which is what led me to believe that the cowls black foam pieces that are attached to each corner, between the fender are also.
