How much can the 4 cylinder 6 speed tow?
Probably a bad oil sending unit, but either way, not worth the doggyness. Now if you were parting it out, and selling the axles, there's always someone wanting those.- streetglideok

How much can the 4 cylinder 6 speed tow?
Not much, and no better than a V6. Every 4cyl owner that has gotten on here has reported fuel mileage in the teens. Under powered, so towing is pretty much a no go.- streetglideok

What did you do to your jeep today?
Took the jeep out over the weekend for our anniversary. Went to the western slope, did some limited exploring(forest roads closed). Had lunch in Creede, CO on sunday, and missed most of the bad weather that hit home Saturday eve. Going to order new gears for the rear end this afternoon...- streetglideok

Hmm, tough call. With the miles on your jeep, if you have serviced the transmission regularly, then you should be ok there for a while. With that, do the lift first. I would suggest your own thread on this, since it's an old thread. P0700 sets whenever a trans code sets, in your case P0720. In the rear, you're unbolting the shocks where they bolt to the axle, the driveshaft, the brake line and speed sensor harness, and then the control arms on the bottom and the tri-link from the top. Mopar 4.10 Part#'s?
Pull the entire axle, front and rear. The internals won't do you any good unless you want to do a regear job. They are shimmed, etc for that axle housing. I think if you do a search, you'll find the tommudd/twobobskj thread about the axle swap they did. They did exactly what you want to do.- streetglideok

Head gasket blown?
Photobucket, etc for posting videos or pics I think. If any luck, you're only looking at the cooling fan issue. However, the heads are known for warping. Could be the BMW next to my box right now, overheated once, head may be no good. Customer received one estimate from a rival, $8k, lol.- streetglideok

Mopar 4.10 Part#'s?
Yeah you need a 4x4 model for the front diff. As far as difficulty, swapping gears requires a shop press and some technical knowledge to do. Swapping axles, not too hard, just labor intensive, well I wouldn't call it really intensive. Perk to doing gears, if you don't have locking or limited...- streetglideok

Head gasket blown?
Blown headgaskets don't make a cooling fan not work. See if the fan is getting power to run when it gets hot. If not, then you likely need the fan control relay. Fans are also known for going bad on these. Get the cooling system problems fixed, then see if you have an overheat issue still.- streetglideok

Mopar 4.10 Part#'s?
Mopar gears will cost a small fortune by themselves. The rear axle gears are easy to find in 4.11 aftermarket. The front, there used to only be one source for the gears, but as of right now, a couple of companies make the 4.10 gears for the Dana 30A. Even then, they aren't super cheap...- streetglideok
