Getting redy to tow-adding HD cooling-trying to read trans temp

No, you'll need to remove the current 'shroud' thats holding the fan. Things get tight with that bigger shroud. And dang! wish I knew about the **** locker 42rle gasket! I just installed the PML pan at the end of summer. I drilled and tapped it for a temp sensor also. It certainly keeps it...

Getting redy to tow-adding HD cooling-trying to read trans temp

The 2004's came with the bigger shroud, even without HD cooling, but my stock electric fan works perfect with the mechanical fan. Its possible the electric fan was different with the 2004's so I cant say if your electric fan will work with the HD shroud. You can get the HD shrouds on ebay and...

    Chernobyl Coolant Tank

Surely a mechanic didnt recommend replacing an engine based solely on coolant on spark plugs? Funny, I just replaced my coolant tank with a new mopar unit so it wouldnt look so stained.... My coolant is now yellow (zerex G05), so Im wondering if it will stain again.

Hard brake pedal after I did heatercore.

Post #4 will tell you how to figure out if you have a bad brake hose... And Ive always had to use a little heat to get the coolant bleed ***** out on a 3.7/4.7. The 3.7 in the liberty with the closed cooling system doesn't really need to the bleed ***** removed though. It self bleeds through...

Hard brake pedal after I did heatercore.

The parking brake will not expand back out unless you pull the handle. If the material is gone from the park shoes, it would be making a terrible sound if the parking brake was being used. Its normal for the brake pedal to get hard when the engine is not running. I cant imagine this issue has...

Hard brake pedal after I did heatercore.

Do you have rear drums or rear disc's? I know the 2002's have drums, but I cant remember if the 2003 was a switch over year or what... If you have disc's, the parking brakes are NOT self adjusting. When you pump up the brake pedal and it gets hard and stays hard while driving, loosen a rear...

    04 Fuel Filter

Interesting, Ive always assumed my 04 had the fuel filter like Ive always read about. What year Jeep are you working on xyzvq? I thought all KJ's had the access port in the cargo area.

KJ reliability over the long haul

Those are incredibly low miles. My 04 has around 120k miles and its been a decent vehicle. I quit using it as a DD in 2013, but I still manage to put around 4k miles a year on it. The list of things replaced is still rather small. Intermediate shaft, water pump, radiator, 1 rear caliper, and the...

    changing transmission fluid/filter

I grabbed a dipstick from a junkyard that was entirely too long. I use it to check trans fluid on Jeeps that got the plug, just use the chart for the temps and a temp probe on the end of the dipstick.

First (for me) Oil Change ....

Early 3.7's didnt have them and they had a build up of sludge in the filler neck. I think there was a TSB to add the baffle if the engine didnt come with it, later models got them from the factory. People use to post photos all the time freaking out b/c they found a yellow sludge in the filler...

    Radiator core bulging

Ive got a Jeep thats had a leaking end cap for many years now... The radiator cap is bad so it never builds pressure, working great! Ive even towed a boat in 90F heat, no issues.

Hello, thinking of restoring a KJ for the wife...

Thats what I have aside from it being a limited. Ive always thought the 2004 was the perfect year, but I sure would like to have the 45rfe trans. Its an all around better trans for the 3.7. The gear ratios just dont match up to the 3.7's torque band at all, its always lugging. And on the fuel...

EVIC "CHECK TPM SYSTEM" on a 2005 Liberty

Does it give you a pressure readout? It does sound like you have the 04 setup since you have use the magnet to train. Pretty sure mine use to say something similar to that, but it didnt say check TPM system. Sometimes mine would also have a -- for the PSI of whatever sensor had a low battery...

Help! Need to remove radiator 04 Liberty

Once you unbolt the condenser from the radiator, the condenser will be loose and should just flop around. When you say the rubber is stuck to the radiator, are you taking about the rubber flap that directs air through the condenser/radiator? Its not really stuck to the radiator, but it does...

    Radiator core bulging

Cant tell whats bulging in the photo, but yes, its fairly common for radiators with plastic end caps to leak or crack. Just replaced my original radiator a couple weeks ago. Guess 17 years is pretty good, I went with another mopar unit.

Been using fluid film for years. Just wish I knew it existed when I first got my KJ, I would've sprayed the inside of the rockers.

    Shock and spring assembly

Ratchet straps probably work for light duty springs, not the KJ springs.
