    Hi Lift Jack

I mounted mine to the side of my roof rack using the Hi-Lift Jack TM-700 1"-2" Adjustable Tube Mount. It's solid and doesn't wiggle at all. I ran some security cable through it and used a couple of padlocks for some small measure of theft deterrence, while maintaining fairly easy access to the...

What did you do to your jeep today?

yeah picked them up from the local dealer - most times I will shop around, but couldn't really find a better deal online and free local pickup beat out the shipping cost

What did you do to your jeep today?

Over the past few weeks, I have replaced front driver side lower ball joint, driver's side CV axle, front lower control arms & 4 camber bolts (most expensive bolts I've ever bought!), and front driver and passenger hub/bearing assemblies. Also got 5 new tires (Hankook Dynapro AT2s all around)...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I actually do keep a close eye on ball joints since I've had one fail before when the bottom nut sheared off, but I had no indication that today's failure would happen. Anyway, thanks for the parts recommendations. I'll be spending some time with my "heap" this weekend

What did you do to your jeep today?

apparently my Jeep wanted us to spend more quality time together, because as I was driving my son to a friend's birthday party today, the front driver side lower control arm ball joint failed. Not like the nut sheared off, which I have also had happen before - no, this time, the ball literally...

    AC compressor :(

The compressor is not locked up, it will turn by hand, it's just like the clutch is disconnected somehow, not enough tension to turn while the compressor is engaged or something. hoping I can just get a shop to evac the refrigerant, then DIY replace the compressor and recharge the system!

    AC compressor :(

The clutch is trying to turn, it's like they are just disconnected. Pretty sure the refrigerant isn't low, I just had it recharged 7 months ago and I don't see any signs of leaks...and the pressure on the low side is super high.

    AC compressor :(

Yeah I'm debating whether to do that or the whole compressor...weighing costs, time, etc. Thanks!

steering rack cradle bolt top of bushing worn

Thanks @LibertyTC - I found your post from a while back on this same issue and I am seriously thinking about buying those poly bushings. Did you end up installing them without dropping the whole rack? I don't have time for a big repair job right now - in the middle of closing on a house and...

steering rack cradle bolt top of bushing worn

Thanks @tommudd - I understand it may not be the "best" fix or even the "right" fix, but sometimes we just need to make things work until we can get it done

steering rack cradle bolt top of bushing worn

I was looking through the engine bay before an upcoming road trip on Monday and noticed that on the drivers side bolt that holds the steering rack to the cradle , the top of the rubber bushing is worn and sticking out. My understanding is that it's usually the top piece that wears out and not...

What did you do to your jeep today?

During a road trip over the holidays, I hit some snow and shifted into 4WD for a bit. When the time came to shift back to 2WD, the shifter was moving freely and it wouldn't shift out of 4WD. Figured the shifter cable popped off and after getting underneath and taking a look, sure enough it was...

    Evaporative Emission System Leak-Help

yep I guess I am just looking for guidance as to the proper size hose to use - the 3/8" fuel line i bought looks way too small, and I seem to recall reading that perhaps they have two differently sized ends? And yes, OEM Mopar gas cap

    Evaporative Emission System Leak-Help

Okay so for a while now I've been getting these recurring CELs and I'm hoping someone can help without having to take this to the dealer for expensive diagnostics and repairs. The codes I am getting are: P0456 Evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak) P0457 Evaporative...

What did you do to your jeep today?

well after poking around underneath, mostly by feel because I was too lazy to take off the skid plates to see better, I think I had knocked the shifter cable loose where it attaches to the transfer case. i stuck it back where it felt like it was supposed to go and the 4WD shifting works again!

What did you do to your jeep today?

So today, I removed my old front drive shaft that was making clunking noises in 4WD full-time and replaced it with a brand new one. The job seemed easy enough - 6 bolts to loosen on each end, remove the old drive shaft, place the new one, and tighten the bolts back. however, when I took it for...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I've been getting more into prepping lately (like lots of others, I suppose, given our current political/social climate) and so I picked up and installed this little guy: EMP Shield. (www.EMPShield.com) It fit nicely on the firewall of the engine bay and hooked up easily to ground and battery...
