    I think that you are hearing the motor on the flow control valve. It's a butterfly that helps for a smooth shut down. It's on the drivers side of the engine toward the front, the intake hose is hooked to it.

    Unplugging the maf will shut off the egr valve so that it's not sending soot back into the intake, where it mixes with the oil mist from the crank case, causing stuff to build up in the intake.     Are you sure the hum is coming from the transfer case? cause I don't understand why it only does it in full time.

    It's the electronic part of the ignition lock, it's what keeps you from using a cheap key to start it, it'll start then die.

    Did it run out of fuel? or the key sentry shut it down, when was the last time the fuel filter was changed?

    I would be checking the fluid level in the transfer case then, unless the fluid has broken down. You can use regular lube in the transfer case.

    How long since it's been in full time?, I notice that if I don't engage the four wheel every so often that the first time I do it seems to be a noise, mainly in part time, but I engage it a few times during the summer going down the drive just to move things.

    I just checked it again, and running short trips and trying to keep the speed down, it still only did a little under 22 mpg, I guess I don't drive as economically as I should.

    I am not doing near that, but I did install a GDE econo tune yesterday, and filled the tank today. Have a 100 mile trip to make this week so will see if it made a big difference.:shrug:

    I have one that mounts in the receiver hitch, it does rub the spare tire cover, but use it at Imperial Dunes, mine doesn't have a provision for the blinking light though.
