    When was the last time you changed the coolant? if it has been more than three years then yes I would change it. Make sure you only use the HOAT anti freeze the others are not good on the gaskets and seals. :whip:

    I am guessing but since it only is doing it at extended idle, I would be looking at the water pump, someone on here said that the pump vanes are plastic, and go bad after a while.

    I was under standing that the hot cold blend was electric door, and the vents were vacuum. I would check a FSM for sure.

    Since you've had TDI's this is less expensive to maintain, the headlights are a lot cheaper to replace than a beetle. The top LTD has the leather and a few have the navigation which I think are rare. Since it's going to be used look for the lowest mileage one and one that has been maintained...

    Have been told that the side tank develops a small crack, they are plastic take a look on the side of the radiator.
