the driveshaft one is probably the pinion seal.
The other might be the oil pan. cant really tell from the pictures.
Can you ID the fluid?
Oil, gear oil and tranny fluid have very distinct smell.
Hey. I'm not sure if you were referring to my #3, lowside line w/ orifice in it. That would be the liquid line. Sorry about that. I'm not a tech but it's technically still the low pressure side :D.
It has the orifice in it and also has a mesh screen filter on it. The orifice is embedded in the...
Replace all the seals
Replace the shraedar valves
Replace low side line w/ orifice in it
Replace the dryer
If the system is open you'll should be replacing these. Each item replaced also would require a certain amount of oil as well.
It may not be a head gasket issue.
The PCV on the early version KJ is at the oil filler neck and the foaming in the neck does occur at colder climates and/or multiple short trips.
Search the forum.
It's an actual TSB.
Unfortunately the parts for the TSB is no longer available.
I'm not Bill but anyways
the e-rad fan is most likely a brushed motor, the replacement doorman is a brushed motor....
Given the age of the vehicle, the following could be the cause of the bad motor:
1. the brushes were probably worn down
2. dirt/debris/crud/corrosion build up internally...
The e-rad fan only comes on at certain conditions.
OPERATION
The electric radiator cooling fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) through the radiator cooling fan relay. The PCM regulates fan operation based on input from the engine coolant temperature sensor, battery...
yup. sounds like it. unless something was blocking it. intermittent fan spinning is a sign of a bad motor. been there done that.
To clarify about the connector, just look at it where it mates, facing the male pins and the female side. inspect to see if anything is melted.
dealing w/ the SSR is a pain and Bill's suggestions are great.
I would start by inspecting the rad e-fan connector. They are known to go bad and have bad connection causing extreme heat in the connector and melting it.
Whether or not you see any melted plasting, probe the rad e-fan connector...
one thing to add is if your SSD relay is the same size as Tim's picture then you need to upgrade it to the beefier replacement.
i don't remember if it was a TSB or a recall.
Are you referring to the small hose going back to the expansion tank? that's the overflow hose for the coolant to flow back into the system. Seeing flow there is not an indication if the thermostat is good or bad.
Some old members like twobobsKj have changed their radiator to have the in radiator tranny cooler on top of the aux tranny cooler.

I have no experience with louvers, tommudd might chime in about them.
I think you've accounted for everything.
some 2003 to early 2002 are 2 wire fan with speed controlled via PWM.
3 wire fan is low speed or high speed.
This is not dependent on the towing package.
as a side note, some 2003 to early 2002 with the 45RFE tranny had the in-radiator tranny cooler...
