Dana Spicer refers to it as the super 30. Chrysler makes the 30a reference due to the aluminum housing and of course you know the ifs is just denoting the independent front suspension but it seems to reference Cherokee more often.
The carriers are interchangeable with the Dana 30 carrier. KJ housing is referred to as a Dana super 30 and other than the obvious ifs and aluminum housing it is the pinion shaft that is different. So, any Dana 30 carrier will work but the gears will not and super 30 4:1 are few and far between...
Well I finally got to tech support at Dana Spicer Ann got a part number 84006-5 (4:10). They are pricey $500 to $900 depending on the vendor. That is just ring and pinion gear no bearings or seals.
Putting them on a open diff shouldn’t be that difficult.
Just a question, do you think the 4:56 will kill highway mileage? I am running lt265/75r16. I cannot find any 4:10 for the 30a online. It appears Dana Spicer has stopped producing them.
Hello Tom, I am looking to put a DTT in the front of my 2002 KJ. I have read and heard that that would not work because of the pinion shaft is longer. Is this true? From the post I read here there is really no problem with them.
Did not suggest that but I went with the budget lift from RRO and had some bumping until I changed control arms.
It is a lifted off-road vehicle it is not going to be silent going over bumps and potholes.
Maybe mistaken on the 2.5 lift. A `1-3/4" spacer adds close to 3" and a 3/8" plate will add another 9/16th's for around 3.5 of lift so if you are not considering the actual lift height and just spacer thickness. idk good luck
