Exasperated KJ Owner! Requires brain transplant or sledge hammer!

I just finished reading (quickly) through this thread and the one thing that stands out to me is your mention of the temperature gauge never going over 1/4 ....The ECM (engine control module) on our (USA) gas engines adjusts the starting air/fuel mixture to rich when cold and leans it out when...

    Fault code P0138

Lambda is just another name for the "O2 sensor" and it is probably a "generic" sensor... The OEM part # can be used by just about any parts supplier just as a "one size fits all" replacement... I would suggest a Chrysler OEM or a Bosch brand O2 sensor that Bosch crosses to... Lots of Chinese...

    Engine Overheating Diagnosis Advice

The coolant system is taxed ... more so under a load condition like climbing a long grade... Under normal conditions a questionable radiator may operate OK but when placed under a heavier load it may not be able to cool the engine... We know the fan works and from what I read it doesn't overheat...

    RockAuto.com - Order Parts and Pay 24 Hours a Day…with Cash!

Nearly every order I have received has a different location on the shipping label and when the address is googled it shows an auto parts store and not a rockauto warehouse... The do have their own warehouses also and ship from them too... Taking the time to juggle what parts from where can save...

    RockAuto.com - Order Parts and Pay 24 Hours a Day…with Cash!

When I order from rockauto I start by putting the items i want in the "cart"... Then I look to see the shipping codes (A,B,C,D, etc)...I then go back to the areas where I selected the parts to see if other "brands" of that part has a "truck" symbol next to it... I select a few of these parts and...

Replace headlight bulb, now rear turn signal burns out

I also have an 06 Liberty and know as a fact that the socket assemblies on the rear of this model are prone to corrosion.. The lamp/bulb is accessed by removing the tail light assembly... Then you turn the tail light counter clockwise to remove the socket/bulb assembly... This assembly and also...

No power to the ignition starter fuse holder slot in the fuse box under the dash.

Kenny.... We here are also Jeep owners but this forum is for Jeep Libertys... I would suggest that you check the fuses under the hood... There is probably a fuse there that is blown... That would be called an upstream fuse... Meaning it supplies 12v to some downstream fuses... That's why there...

    Front Drive Shaft

A pull-a-part yard probably has quite a few KJs just waiting for you to wrench on them... My yard (Canton, Ohio) typically has 6 to 10 of them... You practice on their stock removing them and then you are ready to replace yours... I have a salvage 2006 Liberty Renegade that had a tunnel fire...

    A/C problem Solved

Rebuilt my "salvage" 2006 Liberty with parts from a local PAP (pull-a-part)... We have a bunch of them (Libertys) here... I had to replace the HVAC vacuum servos in the dash and that was a job... Lots of labor as the dash must come out... Learned on the "donor" car... Dave

02 liberty 3.7 dies intermittantly - HELP! I'm out of ideas...

I got a 1997 Ford Ranger cheap at auction as a "won't run" ... Found an inertia switch on the passenger side firewall that had tripped.. One push and it came to life ! If nothing else the gas pickup tube would no longer be in the gas with a roll over :) I would also be interested in finding if...

    Two dead Jeeps

Another option might be to switch drive trains from the salvage to the second Jeep,,,That way you would have a Jeep that doesn't have a "salvage" brand... My 2006 Liberty Wrangler was rescued from a salvage auction and the "branded" title doesn't bother me and with it being a 2006 full...

New(to me) engine running hotter than the one it replaced?

My 2016 Chrysler 200s' lower radiator spring clamp leaked like a sieve... I moved it out of the way and used a screw/band type ... No more leaks... This is a common problem on this model "Fiat/Chrysler"... I guess to each their own... Dave

    Belly Pan Skid Plates

My 2006 Liberty Renegade came with a bunch of OEM skid plates that I believe the "Sport" did not have... You might want to search a few salvage yards or car-part.com for a donor Renegade... Dave

    Cruise control not working

The cruse control DOES monitor the speed of the car and it may sample the speed pulses coming off the speedometer.... What did they do to "repair" the speedometer... say if they ran another wire from the speed sensor to the speedo the old wire may have had a splice in the middle of that run that...

02 liberty 3.7 dies intermittantly - HELP! I'm out of ideas...

You might want to put a couple 12v bulbs (or meters) on the fused lines feeding the PCM unit to see if the supplies may be dying at the time... Because it is not storing codes at the time of failure the PCM may be loosing power during the event and because it is "dead" at that time no codes...

Misfire mystery with my 2005 Jeep Liberty

140k Miles on the original fuel injectors may cause a P0306 code... The misfire can come from a bad coil pack, a bad spark plug, or a bad fuel injector... Injectors can and do become partially plugged or mechanically stick causing too little fuel to that specific cylinder (Cyl #6).... little or...

Overheated, now running extremely rough. Need advice please

If the engine was allowed to overheat and it now runs poorly you probably have head/head gasket damage ... A compression check like stated above should be the very first diagnostic... You also said that it is now using oil...The oil may be going into the coolant (antifreeze)... Does the coolant...

    Mushy brake pedal

Hi Discus... I have a 2006 KJ that was totalled/salvage because of the past owner's improperly rerunning the driver rear brake line... It got tangled up in the front drive shaft...brake fluid then drained onto the catalytic converter and there was a drive shaft tunnel fire... After replacing...
