Ok guys I posted a while back about a 2006 Liberty that I bought where the guy told me it needed a starter. Turned out the motor was locked up. (Surprise.....he lied!). Anyways. Since then I have learned that NO ONE has any interest in buying a nice Jeep that needs work unless it’s free so rather than take a complete loss we started cracking into it today. The motor is locked tight as in it doesn’t turn in either direction. No holes or dings in the pan. No holes in the block. Under both valve covers looks fine. No oil in the water no water in the oil. Oil is dark as in it hasn’t been changed in a long time. I battled a spark plug for two hours last week and lost. It appears that someone changed out the number one coil pack and part of the boot must have stuck. Rather than get it out, they crammed it farther down....around the hex of the spark plug and that boot got hot enough to petrify. Cannot even get the plug out. Decided it doesn’t matter might as well tear it down. When I pulled the intake off I looked down each of the intake ports and that number one cylinder intake port has silvery powder looking stuff in it and in fact every cylinder looks to have some small piston colored pieces in it. But hell, even if a piston popped I should be able to turn the motor at least in one direction. I can’t wait to see the surprise that awaits me that has the ability to lock it up that hard. Take your guesses now guys. What will I find under those heads??
