What does Trail Rated add to a 2006 Sport?

    Cool. So trail-rated means 4x4!

What does Trail Rated add to a 2006 Sport?

I thought the badge appeared on ALL of them, but I haven't seen a 2wd to verify.

    4.10 Re-gearing - 2025

As long as you stay in 2wd, it won't matter what the ratios are. I had the diff out for a whole summer, and had a 2wd-only KJ for the duration.

    Shock Recommendations

I'm not familiar with your choice in shocks. Shocks shouldn't make any rattling noises, providing the bolt fits the eye, and there's no lateral gap between eyelet and mount.

    4.10 Re-gearing - 2025

Consider saving the shop a step and take the front diff out yourself. If they are unfamiliar with the KJ, the loose part on the bench will show it's a fairly simple unit.

How rare or desirable are the 5-speeds?

Maybe 5-10% of them were manual back when we were shopping for 02-07 KJs in 2012. Seems like anything with a manual trans is more desirable in the used market. If there's no odd noises and shifts all the gears, usually good life left; vs an auto, where they often just quit.

What brand clutch kit to use?

Yes pilot bearing. Get the version with the whole outer 'puck' included. It's easier to install without damage. I went with an AMS automotive clutch the first time, and M-pact the second. The original nor AMS ever wore out. I had transmission problems and it just seemed foolish to re&re without...

Washers are easy to add if the shock eye is narrow.

Newbie Libby Owner…REALLY need alot of help pls

You may want to check the practicality and cost of swapping that AC clutch. I ended up buying the whole compressor - it was cheaper than the clutch alone.

    4.10 gear finally Installed

Having a spare diff is ideal. You can also take the front diff our for several weeks/months and be 2wd-only in the meantime. BTDT.

Newbie Libby Owner…REALLY need alot of help pls

Imho, nothing has changed. "Counterfeit" is just trendy to say now. I lost faith in the aftermarket parts world some 30 years ago. There's 40 brands marketing maybe 5 mfr's parts (or similar horrible ratio). Pricing is all over the place. Warranty often means paying more for the same low...

Newbie Libby Owner…REALLY need alot of help pls

Everything in the jobber parts market is a copy of OEM. Why 'counterfeit' is a such a concern for many, I don't know. I buy some of the cheapest parts. It's rare that I get a disappointing lifespan.

My bushes look like that. They don't clunk. Still originals.

    Need help selling a NSG370

I bought my own spare trans. Anyone that has one of these should have a spare. The guts are worth plenty. Price the shifter tower, and the selector/fork/rail assembly.

    Need help selling a NSG370

Is it the TJ or KJ bellhousing pattern? Our 4wd KJ (3.7L) has the NSG370.

    Front differential help

How did the diff-pumpkin support brackets fail in order for the pinion to rotate upward? Were they missing?

    lifting back to stock height.

"Level" for a KJ is an opinion. The wheel arches are a different height front vs rear. I'm using 4runner coils in the rear (with a slight trim) and load assist shocks (look like coilovers) to firm it up.

Exhaust Manifold to Downpipe Gasket? 2005 Liberty Sport 3.7

It's been a year since I had mine apart. I don't remember. It was uneventful. I think it's just a flared pipe onto a chamfered outlet on the manifold.

New Jop, what should I do to it next?

Pry bar. Could move the inboard end of the axle shaft up/down.

New Jop, what should I do to it next?

The right axle shaft is known to hop up and down as the bearing and spline wear out. Mine did that.
