HJ- I'd also consider new KJ copper core spark plugs, NGK ZFR6F-11G if they have not been replaced in a while (35k Miles)

How much $ does a Dyno test cost? Generally only large horsepower engines are Dyno tested & tuned.

Are you having to replace the whole rack & pinion, pump, return pressure lines etc?
Probably ATF+4 would be the best option. After 2003 ATF+4 was used in the KJ's as the standard.
What scanner are you using? 2002 is a very early model. What OBD2 codes are you getting?
The dealer may still have a "star scan" scanner kicking around.
Other than the star scan, the next Best scanner to use is a Snap On Modis Ultra.
Just above the rear differential, is where the speed sensor is located.
The sensor may need replacement. It has a 2 wire connection, with wire loom tubing.
A known issue and inspection for chaffed wiring may be present as well.
Mine has a black protective screw on plastic cap on passenger side of fuel rail, used a flashlight to better see inside.
I wonder if you tried screwing in a fuel pressure tester may help seal it again?
Take the fuel pressure readings while there. Not running for 10 minutes, Vehicle running etc...
The Jeep should be driven for 15 minutes continuously & then check the level on the dipstick, on level ground. Add some if it appears dry.

I would recommend that you find a transmission shop that can read the stored or pending codes. A Snap On Modis Ultra scanner is best.

Did you mean a 2003 KJ Liberty?
Even though this was many years ago, there was a known issue at dealer where a combo /quick firmware flash was performed to solve issues in locks.
The outcome was, when Jeep placed in reverse, you would hear the rear gate lock activate.
Dont use any flushing type products. Flush with distilled water or DE-mineralized.
Mopar Hoat Coolant only or Zerex GO5 can be purchased as pre-mixed at 50 percent which is less expensive.
Green coolant = eek. Drop the lower rad hose to drain it. Flush out the reservoir too.
