How do you know? My 3.7 have done 115000miles and only headgaskets becouse of viscous collapsing 15km into lesotho. Not bad engines, you don't get really bad engines these days. Only bad tech's and bad operators. A car is as good as it's looked after either by the owner or the tech.- Bulli

why am i get such terrible gas mileage?
It's 12L/100km and that equates to 19.6mpg. Thats it. Stop go all the way 7km takes up to 40 minutes. And the Focus only have 8000km on the clock. I've scanned through this thread quikly and feel that if your car is in good nick and the engine well maintained you can't complain about mileage. I get 11.7mpg in daily rush hour traffic. 4.10 is the diff ratio (Crown wheel and pinion ratio). If you have a 4.10 ratio in the rear and a 3.73 ratio in the front and you engage 4wd, you will break a prop or the transfere case.
