I attempted to sell them as a main line A/T through my shop a few years back. Had a high rate of sidewall punctures in any off road usage, and nonexistent company support. On the highway it's a great tire for winter traction and mileage.
The issue Towpro initially posted about is quite often associated with a pressure seal somewhere in the trans that's hardened and bypassing fluid until enough pressure builds to force it into place.
While I'm not a big fan of additives (and someone will likely deride the idea) K&W TRANS"X" has...
"Make sure you get a remote mount electric gauge not a mechanical gauge as well. "
I'll agree with this from the standpoint of all the oil puddles I've seen both outside and inside vehicles over the years where either a fitting backed off, or something rubbed a hole in a line.(referring to oil...
How many miles on engine? These aren't known for ultra long life to begin with, I'd seriously consider a new, warranted crate engine from O'Reilly, or some other source with good warranty backup.
For a really economical tire on a soon to be sold/traded vehicle check this one out

We sell the shit out of them and seldom ever see one back even for a flat. "Ironman" is the redheaded step child of our main line...
Guys, I'm wondering, could this be adapted to Libs and sold as a universal design?

TJKJ2002 Is exactly right. Leaving the nut flush with the end of axle is just additional insurance. PB Blaster is a definite plus as well, my guess is, in the St. Louis area there's likely to be some corrosion.
RE; trans drain plug. We bought a 95 S10 Blazer some years back with 65,000 miles. First oil change I installed a drain plug (4L60E trans). This transmission was never known for long life. Changed out the trans fluid every oil change(non synthetic Dex II). When my step-son finally parked...
Been years since I've used a winch. Had a 12,000lb "Beaver Winch" on an old 1976 F150. Hell of a winch, two speed transmission, and in low would lift the truck vertical. Soaked up amps like a sponge though. Ended up mounting two 1,200 amp group 31 truck batteries. Literally knocked the...
Winch related question; Do regular users upgrade the battery? Factory battery mounting pad is pretty restrictive. From previous winch use years ago I found out the hard way that excessive use can sap the battery to the point where even with engine running, current gets low enough engine dies...
