Well I ordered the reman from NAPA. $63 and a $126 core charge. Crazy. Now I just have to order the other stuff. I found the half shaft, bearing and seal on 4wheelparts.com. Anything else I need? Oh and I'll get the new clips as well.
Can anybody post a link to all the parts or part numbers I need. This is why I love this forum. Everybody is willing to help. I hope that someday I can return the favor but with the amount of knowledge you guys all have I'm not sure I'll be any help.
I just crawled underneath (I was at my kids bowling tournament). The whole cv on the passenger side just flops around. I can't post pics or video but that is the issue. I only drove it 1/2 mile home and it popped out again. Would that be the intermediate shaft or should I order that and the cv?
I just called them and it popped out at the diff on the passenger side. So it is where the half shaft connects to the diff. He said there is a c clip that holds it in place and everything looked good. Something isnt right here. Do I just replace the whole axle from the cv to the diff? And yes it...
They said the cv popped out and they just shoved it back in. isn't there a half shaft on the passenger side? If so then that is what popped out. Isn't there some sort of clip that holds the cv in place usually?
So I was driving yesterday and heard a strange sound from the front left tire area that I attributed to a bad wheel bearing. I took it to a meachanic. Not my usual one. They told me the cv axle popped out of the front diff. I still have the wah wah sound that varies with speed. It starts at...
Well I cut the bump stops off at 2 inches. Now I have a bad wheel bearing in the front passenger side. I am willing to bet it is due to the stress caused by those damn wheel spacers I had on there for about 100 miles. This whole Jeep is going to be brand new by the time I'm done with it.
Ok so one last stupid question. On the rear bumpstops was the top bumpstop suppose to come out and just use the one I ordered from JBA? Or do they both need to be in there? I was talking to somebody at the gas station and they were looking at it and told me to remove the top one for more...
well now my wife just wants to order some wheels and be done with it. I'm thinking just some soft 8's. they are cheap and I like the look. I have never run wheel spacers and will never do it again. This thing rides like a damn Cadillac on the road. After dinner it's time to hit some trails for...
Ok so the rattling and clunking has been found. It was the wheel spacers. They left the clips on the studs before they installed the spacers which set them out 1/8 inch. I am not planning on running the spacers for long. Maybe just another paycheck or two. They I will buy some proper wheels. My...
Well they forgot to install the front bumpstops for one. And I did find a ball joint in the front passenger lower control arm that is bad. They didn't have time to look at it today. Maybe tomorrow. I sure hope they can get it worked out. I'm ready to go wheel this thing. It looks badass though...
What a mess this has been. I've got clunks in the front and rear and the alignment tech said he could only get the camber within 2.5 degrees. I think I've diagnosed the clunk in the front as the a arms hitting in the pocket. I may or may not open them up. I haven't decided yet. There is a clunk...
Yeah they have done hundreds of lifts. They have done a couple of mine. I got the lift done now I am just waiting for the alignment and tires. I will post pics later. Driving to the tire shop was scary. I had to drive about 10 miles an hour.
So I have an appointment to get the lift installed tomorrow. An alignment on Friday and tires on Saturday. I guess two of my tires were shipped from a separate warehouse so they won't be here until Friday. A couple more days won't hurt I guess. But at least I'll have the weekend to test it all out.
Well I already ordered the tires so I guess I'll run them for awhile and if they suck then I'll buy some duratracs. The tires will be here on Tuesday and the lift on Wednesday. I've got an appt to get it all installed on Thursday. I'll post some pics on Thursday if it's not to dark when I get...
So I'm about to order the kit. I am going with the econo lift. I got the terraflex front bumpstops. The 4" rear bumpstops and the stainless steel extended brake lines. Anything else anybody can think of. I'll probably order tires tonight or tomorrow. I found some Dick Cepek Extreme Country in a...
Perfect. Thanks for all the info. I will order it all next payday. Then get it installed. I've got a good mechanic here that is really fair with his prices. He said $350 to install the lift. If I was mechanically inclined I would attempt it. And it's basketball season for the kids so I never...
