This cost me about $20 since I couldn't find the bolt and thrust bearings locally. It worked like a charm. Way better than spending $100 on the tool. If anyone else needs this in the future, it's a 150mm M12x1.75 full thread bolt, M12x1.75 flange nut, and a 12mm thrust bearing. If you ever...
I had ordered an installer tool for the harmonic balancer, but it seems the parts it comes with for jeeps do not work on the 2003 2.4L, due to the threads on the crank shaft starting down inside a bit, instead of at the face. I found the "official" tool, but it's $100 when you take into account...
I was able to pound it back flat. I was just hoping to find one in case my repair, or one someone made didn't quite work and I have to pull everything back apart again. I am not in a huge rush to get it back together, so I may make an arbor for it that I can mount on my lathe, and then use an...
Everything I have read, and videos I have seen showing the engine used in other cars, suggests that although they use the same engine, they have different tone wheels for timing. The Liberts and Wranglers between 2002 and 2004 seem to be the only ones that use this specific tone wheel.
I have been dealing with cam sensor issues for a while now, and finally broke down and took the timing belt and stuff off to remove the tone wheel. The "small" dings were worse than I thought they were. I have punded out the dings, and will refine it a bit more, but would rather find a good...
I was going to remove the upper intake manifold so I could remove the wiring harness for injectors, cam and crank sensors. When I looked in the service manual to see how to remove the upper manifold, it talks about removing some bolts, but there are no bolts on mine. The picture in the manual...
Can the cluch safey switch be replaced without removing the master cylinder? Jeep seems to sell the clutch hydraulic unit with the switch on it, but a lot of the aftermarket ones don't seem to include it, and look like you just attach it to the road coming from the pedal. I see the switch can...
It wasn't supper floppy, still small resistance like i would expect from the tod pushing into the master cylinder.
Either way, I was having trouble getting some of the nuts off, and ran out of time to mess with it, so it had to be taken to a shop.
Lost clutch pedal while driving home today. Was able to keep going down the highway. Had a bid of a hiccup when I came to stop signs near home, but was able to nurse by by shutting off the car, shifting into first, and then starting it while in four wheel low to get it through the two...
*smacks head* Well, probably not solved, but more insight. It has thrown a code P0340 a few times, which I looked up, and apparently typed wrong, because I thought that was an Evap issue. I just saw someone else mention in going along with P1391 on their jeep. So, at least I know I am...
Ok, I will try crank s
I know it can be both. Just leaning towards cam sensor since it started after I messed with it. At this point I probably need to replace crank sensor just to rule it out I guess.
Earlier in the year, I was having starting trouble that ended up being the result of AZ giving me the wrong starter multiple times. While diagnosing it at the time, I replaced to CAM Position Sensor, and ever since, I have had a P1391 code showing up. I assumed at first that I had done the gap...
Well, in my tired state yesterday, I didn't even think to check the wire from the relay to the solenoid. I went to put a bump switch in this morning to test the starter, and realized it wasn't connected. It doesn't feel like it wants to "lock" on, and I was driving over a prairie yesterday, so...
Some of you may remember my saga over the winter, in which AZ gave me the wrong starter twice. Well, today the Liberty decided it didn't want to start again. Started fine first thing in the morning, started fine around lunch time, and then when I went to leave a site, it wouldn't start...
When I went to pick up the third starter today, the girl working noticed something odd about the part numbers. When she looked up the 2003 2.4L liberty, it listed a 17839 for the standard, but DLG17882 for the gold. She said the gold part number is always the same as the standard, but with DLG...
It's a selling point for me just for the current starter. I am pinching pennies right now, so I am hesitent to shell out money for a starter from another store, only to have it not be the problem. I have not had good experiences returning car parts in the past. Maybe the mileage varies in...
