P0507 Code but idle seems fine

Hi everyone,

my girlfriend recently got a 230k mile 2007 liberty. It was driving okay-ish with a P0303 code until I replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils, which seemed to resurrect the car. It drives great now, however, it seems to be throwing a P0507 code now (high idle RPMS) and I can't seem to troubleshoot the underlying cause. For starters, the idling RPMs seem normal around 650 with little fluctuations. I can't find anything concerning a vacuum leak anywhere nor do I believe there's a problem with the throttle body, PCV valve or IAC valve.

Could it just be the computer needs to undergo a relearn procedure? If so, am I able to do that without a fancy OBDII scanner? Or do let me know if there's anywhere else I should check during this troubleshooting process?

I believe your issue is in fact the IAC system and you should clean the ports to/from it. I believe the idle is just a little higher than the system is trying to set, caused by gunk preventing the IAC from closing properly.


I recently had an idle issue where no codes at all were being thrown but the IAC was full of gunk. it would stall out sometimes and idle was slightly rough.
After cleaning it all up, it then threw codes... The IAC was sluggish in response but still electronically working I think... Ordered a new IACV that I am waiting on.

2007 was a cross over year before the KK Jeep, it may not have a IAC.
