    Transmission mount replacement

Good day all. I need to replace the transmission mounting on my 05 3.7 4WD. Is this possible without removing the entire works? Can this be done by simply dropping the cross member under the transmission and replacing in situ? If so, any special precautions? A link to a video would also be handy.

    Thermostat Upgrade

I have had to remove the Thermostat on my 3.7 V6, but due to my remote location have not been able to replace the faulty one. I live in a mild to warm climate in South Africa and although the vehicle seems to run a bit cooler than with the Thermostat unit, no problems to date. Does anyone have...

OME 2inch Lift kit + JBA upper control arms

I had the full OME kit fitted to my '05 KJ 3.7Lt V6, complete with new shocks, coil springs, and struts. After about 3,000km the height difference has settled down to about 46mm.

    KJ in Africa

Thanks for the reply, I run 245/70 16's primarily due to the accuracy of the speedo reading vs GPS speed. I suppose it is only slightly higher revs after the change. Once again, as a matter of interest, what revs do you run ith the new gearing at 100kph or 60 Mph?

So just as a matter of interest, is your fuel consumption on the 3.7 effected in any way with the new gearing? Petrol in this part of the world is R25/Lt which is about US$5/gal.

    KJ in Africa

I appreciate the tip. That said, I have replaced the rear upper control arm with new bushes and ball joint - huge improvement in stability, but diff noise still there, so perhaps now is the right time for the re-gear exercise.

    KJ in Africa

Hi Mike, I have had the full Old Man Emu suspension kit fitted in SA. The best investment made so far on the Jeep, well worth the money spent. Mega 4x4 in SA are agents and they import them directly and do the installation. I think Pretoria is your closest, and it is worth taking the trip down...

    Bent rear upper control arm

Thanks to All for the responses received to date. No one has touched on my question regarding the diff noise, but I guess I'll have my answer once the new parts are in. I Love South Africa where I live, but at times become frustrated with the lack of availability of original and/or good...

    Towing a Travel Trailer

I have the exact same 05 KJ. I tow a camper trailer weighting around 1,400 kg (just over 3,000 lbs) fully loaded. Our trips are normally long distance on varying road surfaces and terrain, and the Jeep is normally fully loaded as well. In my experience, as long as your suspension system and...

    Bent rear upper control arm

Has anyone heard of this? I know the previous "mechanic" that worked on my KJ, removed the arm to replace bushes and ball joint. Now that I am replacing these items again, I have found the following: 1. Sub standard aftermarket bushes 2. The ball joint was never replaced, supposedly because...

    KJ in Africa

The secret to a successful relationship with a KJ? TLC. Firstly, If there is even a hint of anything going sideways - fix it, don't delay. Secondly, NEVER use inferior or "cheap" parts - this will single-handedly be the undoing of a sound relationship with your KJ. After taking her across some...

    KJ in Africa

Hi All. By way of an introduction, I live in South Africa (originally born and raised in Zimbabwe), and the very proud owner of a 2005 Jeep Liberty KJ 3.7Lt V6 automatic 4x4 which is marketed over here as a Renegade. I've had her since 70,000km and now have 170,000km on the odo and still going...
