I hopefully have the Logics for that model and can advise you....I really do not see what the Master Cylinder's resistance has to do with this problem!
What I have often done....since my wiring got damaged after my GF hit a tree that jumped in front of causing lots of wiring damage....is to tape a small pin or needle to the Positive probe of the meter.
Then with the Negative lead taped onto ground somewhere....pierce the insulation of the lead...
Download the Service Manuals for your year KJ....Section 8W has the Logic Diagrams for you to be able to climb in with your Multimeter!

Yeah I had to split all the metal idlers on my CRD and replace the original "Rivets" with High Tension nuts and bolts and "Loctight" on the threads to keep them in place....some of the Idlers are fitted with Left Hand Threads so owners must be wary!
I had to replace the Belt Tensioner as well...
There is a common problem with newer CRDs in that when ABS was introduced the wiring harness on the LHS was shifted upwards in the battery area where the harness goes under a metal curved guide as it curves downwards inside the engine bay.
This can also be a problem on older CRDs...after my GF...
Love my 2002 2.5L manual CRD...the first models came out as 2.5 Litres!
Diesel is cheaper here in SA than Petrol....that which you refer to as "Gas"
Trouble is that all KJs are difficult to maintain here as the Dealers do not support them and genuine spares are hard to get.

Picked it up about a week ago and it is working...
I have the 2002 2.5L Export CRD with a fixed-vane Turbo....they only made the 2.5L for that one year for the Export market!

There is a drain pipe for the Air Conditioner.....after driving for a long time in warm weather with aircon ON ice forms and water will drip onto the ground when you stop....I have this every day when I pull into my garage!
There have been reports that if this drain pipe is not fitted properly...
Had the Clutch and Flywheel replaced on my 2002 2.5 CRD at about 200,000 kms and replaced the Oil Seal at end of Crankshaft!
Had to have a Specialist Shop do the work as Jeep Worldwide refuses to work on KJs!
Works fine....now need to find a shop to fit Shock Absorbers all around and do Wheel...
Yeah there have been problems whereby the heat of the Bulb and the heat of the current running through the bulb melts the plastic where the bulb contacts are....so the contacts sink into the plastic and no longer make contact!
Is this a CRD or a gasser?
2002 KJs in the foreign market came in with a 2.5 L engine with a Fixed Vane turbo....which is what I have!
I think the 2002 2.5 L models only came out with a Manual Transmission....you obviously have an Automatic!;)
I like the joke about the 3 guys getting in and out of the car! ;)
When I was about 19 years old IBM South Africa put me through a solid week of IQ testing the result of which was me attending a Technical College for 2 years all expenses paid!
I then worked for IBM for a few years....we were...
This is good advice but you can expect a small amount of current draw as the PCM, ECM, BCM etc. will draw a small amount of current! It is worth disconnecting the battery completely and draining out any capacitance in the system by touching the Positive battery lead to chassis for a few...
