SOLVED!!!! It was the MAP sensor. Never had one kill an engine before but I guess I can believe that if it shorted internally, it took out the 5v supply which also runs the crank and cam sensors. Really an odd ball. So glad its finally fixed.
Thanks for all the tips, the little volt meters were really helpful to narrow down the issue.

This is most interesting, that A MAP sensor would be the fix /culprit. Going to have to keep this in mind !
