230K+ miles and 8.5 years old and im still right side up. got my recall notice for easter.

My father had his recall work done Good Friday. took about 2 or 3 hours. He called the Dealership back in march was able to schedule everything before he even got a letter.
I got a "squeek" now when I flex the rear axle. Sounds like it is coming from the rear new black shiney bushings installed with the new black shiney control arms just installed........piss me off.......wasn't there before cause I sprayed the bushings with lube every time I did an oil change. But hey....they are nice and black and shiney though.........(not done ******* yet)....:smokin:
Now it looks like I gotta spray them pos new shiney black bushings and see what happens. (done ******* now)............:happy175:

You have any idea what it's like to "rinse the undercarriage" in minus freakin cold weather? Do you know what happens to water at those temps?
Put it this way, if there's a recall and I don't get it done and something fails and I run over your family....you will want to sue me AND my insurance won't help me out.

I got the letter on Monday.
But, I've got WAAAY too much stuff i the mix right now, not sure when I'll get around to having it done.:disgust:

Exactly! Well said BjBnet! They never clean the undercarriage of their Jeep at -26c and they never ride all day long on HW were the salt act like sandblasting on every undercarriage parts! I wash all the vehicles I own every fracking week and give them a coat of wax every year since 1977! I can show you pics of the undercarriage of my Buick Rendez-vous 2002 ant it's perfectly clean and almost look like new, I can show you pics of the 2005 Toyota Echo of my girlfriend and she NEVER rinse the undercarriage but again it's perfectly clean with not a single trace of rust!
I did the same maintenance on my KJ and let me tell you something, this is by far the most rusty undercarriage vehicle I ever own! How can you explain that? Is it my fault? Then why all others vehicle I owned never get rust like this one? (And I owned many rear traction trucks...) Why all 2005 Jeep KJ I have seen in Canada got undercarriage rust? Go ahead try to give a smart a$$ explanation to this or like usual joke about it since you have no clue...
By the way can any of you point me were in the Jeep manual for north American and Canadian owners you can read "Paint your undercarriage with POR 15 every month in winter":manos:

I work many times in concert with Canadian Federal agency "Transport Canada" who take care of Air, Marine, Rail and Road transport investigation, there is no place for SPECULATION wen life can be injure and federal agency don't joke about it so if there is a risk THEY are the experts you can count on.......Bring your nice 2005 Californian KJ for a spin where I live and you may know what you're talking about next time, when something apply for your part of the world this does not mean it apply for the rest of it.
Funny my undercarriage looks better than it did when it left the factory
I wash it at 0 degrees if I have been on a lot of salt covered roads
Maintenance is key , I've done lifts on KJs that looked like they parked in a salt bath everynight due to the owners never washing underneath of theirs
Still think its a waste of money for Jeep to be replacing parts on a 8 year old vehicle :favorites68:

Well considering the Buick's undercarriage is 95% aluminum that is no surprise there for lack of rust.The Toyota is most likely due to massive oil leaks as the echo's oil pans are very well known for leaking.

When I had the carpet out there was some rust along the weld seams, how often do I need to pull the carpet and wash this.

THAT I agree with. It should only be brought to the owner's attention.
I'm getting it done though for the reason I mentioned, insurance.

Only took about 45 minutes. The new control arms are the different tubular type. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I will be painting them with a good couple coats for black rustoleum.
