Thanks Dave.

Mine is one of them.

Why don't manufactures make higher quality parts instead of going the cheap route and risk people's lives and safety ?

This topic should be "Stickied".

Good to know. Mine was a PA sale, now living in MD. I won't lie, I enjoy getting parts fixed through recalls, assuming I haven't already done it myself. Free replacement parts, can't beat that.

Samer parts as all KJ's got, owner neglect is the cause.WASH YOUR VEHICLE,and not just the shiny painted parts.

Will they still honor the recall if your jeep is lifted?
They should not as you null and voided any suspension warranty by lifting it and changing the operating angles.

They should. Rust is a factor regardless of lift...
A lift places more stress on that rear control arms so they can trace a broken one to your lift and nothing you can do about it.

Just checked my rear control arms and they look in great shape - When snow is forcasted nowadays they dump tons of the snow melt on the roads before the snow comes, the last couple of storms never came and I can shovel the stuff they left behind.

The article states corrosion is the issue. Lifted or not, stressed or not, they corrode. You're so negative :icon_lol:

I say go to the dealership and say exactly that.

hmmmm. If I do try the recall should I reinstall the sway bar? Or will they like that since it will make it that much easier?

It depends on the dealer
Locally they do
They replaced both the C/V's on our lifted KJ
also did the LBJ recall when it was lifted
There is or was a printed "lift limit"
and a service rep came to the local club meetings
and handed it out along with a reference in the printed
warranty
Been way to long to remember

sweet! new parts for my jeep!

had some maintenance to do on it anyways, this will just get me more in the mood. need to replace bushings up front, install either a strut plate or conduit washers to level up the front end....and still eyeballing a lunchbox locker. :D

after that, it will be time for some new tires! i'm both thankful and somewhat sad i never needed to take the jeep out this winter. quite honestly, my fwd fiesta handles WAY better in the snow than my jeep right now. i'm guessing it's a combination of crappy cheap tires (came with the jeep from the dealer), and open diff. i loved my ford ranger with a powertrax locker...really hankerin' to put something similar in the jeep!

No offense Troy, but are you on a "This is why I THINK your warranty claim should be denied" kick lately?

Because these days everyone wants everything for free because gas prices are rising again and jobs are scarce.See crap like this every single day, most days 2 or 3 times a day from scammer customers.Get's old that poeple think they can neglect there vehicles and when it breaks they think it's someone elses fault.

What does this have to do with poor craftsmanship?
Really explain that?
If any company makes a crappy part and offers to
replace them then everyone who ownes that crappy
part is entitled to a new part
Lifted or not warranty or not
The part poses a safety hazard and must be replaced
My old Ford Ranger had the crappy Firestone tires
That came on the explorers
When they were recalled I got squat
The tires were replaced when they had only 5k miles
guy who bought the tires from me rolled up to
Firestone and rolled out on 4 new tires ,no charge
Same situation

Then why are only salt belt states effected and not the other 40 some states? Or why not '06 and '07's? It's not poor craftmanship is salt that is the issue combined with lack of maintenance.

So only those year liberties and no other car ,truck or suv
gets exposed to salt?
Or by your reasoning only people who bought those
year KJ's do a poor job of "maintainin" their vehicles
I just don't see where you can say that because
a company made a lower quality part or used a lower
quality paint should require a higher level of maintaince
on the part of the owner
That would be like me ******* because my wife's VW
requires super unleaded to get the advertised mpg
and power
We knew when we bought it what was required
When people bought those KJ's no one said
"keep in mind these have a crappy paint job on the
rear lca's so you have to do an extra special job
on cleaning them"
Sorry dude it is not the customers problem
