Hi every one this is my first post but I have been creeping on here a while. I'm trying to replace my 3.7 in my 05 kj and I have found a 07 3.7 with only 60k for a good price but I can't seem to find out if this swap will work I have found on pre 05 the crank reluctor ring and the cam ring are different but I cant find any info on the 07. I know the throttle body is different but I can just use mine that isn't a big deal and honestly swapping the rings isn't either I just would like to know what all this swap would need. Thanks everyone and I have gone a year with out my kj and this is the only thing holding me back from having it back!

You should be fine, I think sometime 2004 the computers changed, 2005-12 should work no problem . I put a 2012 motor in a 06 commander. A few small things needed swapping like temp sender and cam position sensor. Oil and crank sensors were the same. Timing cover, valve covers, are the same too. Did keep the 2012 oil filler and cap adapting the 06 intake to the newer crankcase breather system.

The 07 will probably have egr valve passage in the head, use your exhaust manifold to bypass it and maybe put a plate on the engine side of the opening or leave the egr bolted in.
I think even you oil pan is the same, it's really a straight forward swap just bolt in you intake and accessories on.

Oh I'm not sure which year it changes but the oil filter maybe different, the 2006 to 2012 swap the oil filter changed threading, you can swap that around too, I chose to go with the 2012 filters instead

04 thru 2012 no reluctor ring change needed. Only thing is on some of the later models o hole needs to be drill out on the driver's side front head to accept a power steering mount bolt.
