2001 Jeep KJ Rear Axle replacement required (UK)OK, so

So, My 3.7 2001 KJ needs a new rear axle. Last one went up in smoke.
Where do I start? Obviously the ratio is the first thing I need to know, however, I am stumped for any further information needed to replace this, and will be grateful for any direction pointing and what i need to look out for. The jeep is currently sitting idle in my friends garage yard, and now have enough cash saved to sort this out and get my beloved KJ back on the road. Can anyone help me in guiding me in the right direction? i.e. how do i find out the ratio, are other KJ axle's compatible or other Jeep models? etc etc

2001 build date might have a d35. So first thing is that

Any dealership should be able to tell you from the VIN.(no charge)
