2002 Oil pressure switch/sensor replacement

But what I found is different than the 03 to 12 videos..My sensor seems to be alongside the filter, not on top and is different in size at base than 27mm and while it turns it doesn't ***** out Any ideas?

The plug in harness is not above the oil filter. And there is a unit alongside that doesn't match the one is described in videos.

Why is 2002 different than 2003 to 2012? I thought 02 an 03s were the same. With most 02 to 07s very similar

What engine does the vehicle youre working on have in it? As far as I know, all 3.7's, no matter what theyre in, have the oil pressure sender above the oil filter. As does the 4.7.

It is a 3.7l. Need better pics but not on the top of the filter

the sender is directly above filter. Hard to see below, but if you take the filter off, fairly decent view.

looks like what you are showing is something else. Ac line / ps line maybe. Never saw a sensor on the ps line, but ac line might have one.

Thank you. That 's what I thought too but couldn't find one above. The guy for 1AAuto who made a video covered years 03 to 12. So I thought I his might be different.

I reached mine when doing oil change.

filter off, peer from front thru sway bar to see it.
i dont have a lift, so it is a bit of a stretch to reach thru the bar and frame to get at it.

it’ll be almost ‘too loose’ coming out.

use a mopar sensor.

i put mine back in a bit tighter. don’t go overboard! It is a tapered pipe thread.

that's the P/S high pressure sensor. The oil pressure sensor bolts on to the block directly.

I did do mine with the oil filter out as well for ease of access.
I don't remember the size but I think it is 27mm you need a deep socket.
You don't have to buy one, just get it from your LAP's tool loaner program. would be an axle nut socket.

What a mess. I just had my oil filter changed and is a little bit of a leak. I finally found this sensor by feel so I'm going to have to take the oil filter out in order to get to it I still can't see it

If yr not in a hurry, the mopar is preferred. These kjs are rather particular with electrical parts. It'll work, but may act up. The little port tends tu gunk up with oil.

Theres no harm in waiting till the next oil change unless the sender itself is leaking.

It took me a few oil changes before I remembered to change it in a friends 4.7.

I bought the special socket, but mostly b/c I like buying tools.

Possibly this may help. If available get the Mopar sensor.

Thank you so much. I did finally find it, but still had to do it all by feel. Got oil in the face when removing the filter. Had the 27mm socket hit me in the jaw twice. Thumbs hurt. Head hurts. Cross your fingers on Duralast part. Don't ever want to do this again

My mopar one had a rounded brass head that required a special tool to remove. Normal socket didn’t fit, had to buy the socket to get it out. Oil low light started randomly coming on. Replaced with standard sensor, no problems. That’s been at least a year ago.
