Hey, i have 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7L, my wheel bearing needs to be replaced but its the kind with the Rotor attached to it. How do i remove it? Do i need a special tool? If so whats the name of it and where do i get it? Thanks

Is this the front or back? The front wheel bearings are part of a hub assembly. You just replace the whole hub and bearing assembly. It just unbolts from the knuckle after you remove the axle spindle nut and some other stuff. The rear are a bit more difficult but this is a good brief description:

Its the front drivers side. Where exactly in the link does it explain how to take the hub assembly off? Im in need to get this fixed but low on money so I need proper instructions because im doing it myself. Thanks!!!

Remove wheel
remove brake caliper
remove brake pad mount
remove large nut on end of CV
remove 3 bolts that are on back side of the wheel bearing
remove wheel bearing
replace in reverse order
Oh forgot to add jack up vehicle first and place jackstand under frame.

The link was only for the rear bearings. The fronts are just an unbolt old and bolt new ones on. May be described in detail in a Haynes manual available at most auto parts stores. The best source would be the FSM (Factory Service Manual). It will have a very detailed description.

I see Tom already hooked you up. You might have to replace the spindle nut (nut on end of axle shaft). It needs a 35mm socket but a 36 will work.

The three bolts on the back at torx bolts and if you don't want to risk stripping them out might want to get yourself a set for removing and reinstalling them.

Front wheel bearings are cake. Just follow the steps that have already been posted. I tackled this by myself without any prior experience doing it. It really is just as simple as unbolting everything then putting it back on in the reverse order. Read up on it before hand so you at least have something to go off of so the procedure makes sense as you are doing it. If you know someone that is mechanically minded have them watch over you while you do this.

The Torx bolts are E14 size if I remember correctly. Get a good, high quality Torx socket - you don't want the walls of the socket distorting and rounding off the points of the bolt. A good idea to spray some PB Blaster or Kroil around the bolts before you tackle the job just to loosen up the crud.
And go with Timken hubs - in my opinion the best bearings to use :waytogo:

If you go to 1aauto.Com or Google it, they have a really thorough walk through video on how to do your hubs on a jeep liberty if you don't feel comfortable.. just search jeep liberty hub replacement

Judging by the fact he has to ask how to remove a front hub assembly, figured it's probably not a bad idea for him to at least watch it done correctly once. My bad. If it was just your average junk YouTube video I wouldnt have mentioned it, but it's just a basic step by step no unnecessary talking.
I used it for a reference for the torque measurements when I did mine. Also to verify the direction the abs sensors should be facing when my speedometer quit after replacing them.. rear abs sensor went for some reason so ended up being unrelated to the hubs

No not that it is bad for you to post it , I just find it funny that no matter what it is anymore someone is asking for a video to show how to do it.
Back when I was your age we just had to dive in and do it, sometimes learn as you go. When I was nine my Father wrecked his car, smashed in the whole front end ( 1954 Ford ) As he was leaving that morning he yelled back in the house and said he was picking up new fenders, hood , grill etc that evening and for me to have everything off and ready when he got home .
No videos, looked it over and dove in.

Some should and could, so don't and could and some have no reason to even own a pair of pliers.
BUT that is where American schools are failing us,
everyone should have to take some shop classes if nothing else to know how to change a light bulb.

Truth. I took the vocational route and ended up loving autobody. But mandated shop classes in high school are a joke. You truly learn nothing retainable.
