2005 Liberty Sport 3.7 4x4 ****** fluid change metal in pan

I just recently had the fluid changed and there were pieces of what the mechanic said was a broken snap ring in the pan. I changed the fluid at about 60k many years ago. I now have about 80k on it. Would like to know if this is a rarity and what I should do about it. Otherwise the

I'm assuming that is transmission pan? If you have no shift issues, I would carry on driving. Only way to fix that is to tear down whatever it is that it came out of and rebuild. Nothing you can do, so keep driving, monitor for shift issues (or whatever it's from) and overhaul when you start seeing a problem. That would be a sign for you to start saving for overhaul.
